For one of our CoolCo.Club member companies, we are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade data architectures for a high-impact public sector modernization program. This is a long-term contract role with primarily remote work and occasional onsite visits (~25%) in the Midwest. Key Responsibilities • Design, create, and manage enterprise data architecture including architectural diagrams and documentation. • Implement data models, database structures, and strategies aligning with business requirements. • Build and document cloud data repositories including Data Lakes, Lakehouses, and Warehouses on AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP. • Develop and manage end-to-end data pipelines, infrastructure, and integration points. • Establish data governance standards ensuring data consistency, quality, lineage, and cataloging. • Define storage, backup, and recovery strategies; ensure data security and compliance. • Evaluate technologies including ServiceNow, AWS, GCP, Azure, and others for suitability and performance. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, engineers, and product owners. • Create weekly status reports using pre-defined templates and participate in deliverable walkthroughs. Required Qualifications • 5+ years’ experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, and Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI). • Strong expertise in data modeling, metadata management, MDM, and governance best practices. • Proficiency in building data lakehouses, cloud data warehouses, and hybrid data ecosystems. • Experience in documenting architecture, pipelines, and security models to enterprise standards. • Familiarity with ServiceNow integrations and usage in enterprise data workflows is preferred. • Excellent communication and technical documentation skills. • Previous experience in a government or large public sector IT environment is highly desirable. • Must reside in the U.S. and be eligible to work without visa sponsorship. Work Arrangement & Terms Primarily remote with ~25% onsite requirement (approx. ~5-6 days/month) in the Midwest region. Long-term contract position tied to delivery milestones. Competitive rate based on experience and qualifications. Travel reimbursed separately as per diem. Only U.S.-based resources considered due to contractual restrictions.
