Security Design Engineer Location: Cincinnati, OH or Columbus, OH Full Time Salary Range: $45.00 - $55.00/hr + Benefits Bright Minds is searching for a highly skilled Security Design Engineer with the technical expertise and vision to design and deliver advanced physical security solutions. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of engineering and integrating commercial, industrial, and institutional fire alarm, special hazards suppression, intrusion detection, access control, and CCTV systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, support sales with technical insights, and ensure every project meets the highest standards of safety, compliance, and innovation. The Security Design Engineer will perform engineering and design work across multiple security technology platforms, producing accurate and professional drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit. This includes supporting sales teams with technical guidance on proposals and projects, reviewing scopes, solutions, equipment, and labor for accuracy, and staying current with industry advancements, new products, and evolving codes. You will ensure designs align with company quality standards and regulatory requirements, provide technical support to customers, field technicians, and AHJs, and maintain all required certifications and professional training. Requirements for the Security Design Engineer: • 5+ years of engineering/design experience in physical security and life safety systems. • NICET III or higher certification (required). • Associate’s degree in engineering or related field. • Expert-level knowledge of AutoCAD and proficiency in Revit. • In-depth understanding of commercial, industrial, and institutional fire alarm, special hazards suppression, intrusion, access control, and CCTV systems. • Strong working knowledge of IP networks and integration with security systems. • Familiarity with state and local building codes. • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, plus the ability to learn industry software. • Strong communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal. • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
