POSITION TITLE: PRINCIPAL LAN ADMINISTRATOR JG: 28 LOCATION: Appellate Division, Second Department 45 Monroe Place Brooklyn, NY 11201 BASE SALARY: $ 110,853 + $ 4,920 LOCATION PAY CLASSIFICATION: NON-COMPETITIVE QUALIFICATIONS: Certification in Network Administration within eighteen (18) months of appointment; and One year of service in the Associate Local Area Network Administrator title, or Master's degree in computer science or related information technology field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of local area network operations experience, or Bachelor's degree in computer science or related information technology field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of local area network operations experience, or An equivalent combination of education and experience. To be qualified for this position, you must have a valid driver’s license. Travel throughout the ten counties of the Second Judicial Department is required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: Principal Local Area Network Administrators are assigned to administrative offices throughout the Unified Court System, where, under direction of administrative office personnel, they are responsible for supervising subordinate local area network administrators and the management of multi-vendor client/server technology environments. They are responsible for complex wide area networks in order to ensure availability of services to all users. Principal Local Area Network Administrators are responsible for planning and implementation of network strategies in accordance with Department of Information Technology standards, policies, and procedures. Principal Local Area Administrators coordinate the configuration of complex local area networks and installation of operating and application software and hardware. They coordinate resolution of problems with the implementation, operation, and maintenance of communication media, computer equipment, and network design, and perform other related duties. ASSIGNMENT: The successful applicant will assist the Senior Technical Manager and Technical Manager in the supervision of the Information Technology (IT) Department in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, Second Judicial Department, and its ancillary agencies, which covers a 10-county geographical area (Kings, Richmond, Queens, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Nassau, and Suffolk). This role requires good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Windows Desktop OS, Dell hardware, networking principles, Active Directory support tools, scripting, and SCCM. Familiarity with the court’s technical requirements and a working knowledge of Audiovisual System is preferred. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: help oversee the daily operation of the IT department, including training and evaluating staff; support special projects as directed by the Senior Technical Manager and Technical Manager; assist in planning and implementing new IT initiatives; provide technical guidance to LAN administrators and delegate work duties to subordinates, and ensure tasks are efficiently distributed; provide training to LAN Administrators on Pearl-2, Biamp and other AV equipment to ensure effective support for the Court’s local and hybrid events. Required skills include, but are not limited to, the following: good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop OS; in-depth knowledge of Dell hardware, networking concepts, Active Directory support tools, and SCCM management tool; in depth knowledge of Pearl and Biamp audio visual equipment and its setup; understanding of industry standards and the ability to stay current with the latest technology trends; familiarity with the court's technical requirements; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to handle confidential matters.
