Job Title: IT Project Management Trainer Location: Sacramento, CA - Hybrid Duration: 24 Months Job Description Role Overview The IT Project Management Trainer & Coach will design, deliver, and facilitate tailored training programs for executives, project sponsors, and project managers across the California DOJ. The role focuses on enhancing PM capabilities in line with PMI s PMBOK, CA-PMF, and the CDT Project Approval Lifecycle. This includes developing customized learning materials, conducting workshops, delivering 1:1 mentoring, and creating reusable video training modules. Key Responsibilities • Develop a comprehensive training curriculum adaptable to beginner, intermediate, and advanced PM levels. • Deliver training in multiple formats: classroom, virtual, self-paced, and video-based. • Conduct 1:1 mentoring/coaching sessions with project managers, including review of project charters, risk logs, and vendor contracts. • Facilitate executive and stakeholder workshops to strengthen governance, change control, and risk management capabilities. • Produce high-quality, reusable training videos for DOJ s internal use. • Provide knowledge transfer to DOJ staff to ensure long-term self-sufficiency. • Coordinate with DOJ Contract Manager to schedule and tailor sessions based on organizational needs. • Submit periodic status reports detailing training progress, participation, and impact. Required Qualifications • Proven experience delivering IT project management training to diverse audiences. • In-depth knowledge of PMBOK, CA-PMF, CDT PAL, and System Development Lifecycle. • Strong facilitation skills for both in-person and virtual learning environments. • Experience creating video-based training content. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Visio, Project). • Must be U.S.-based and able to pass a DOJ background check. Preferred Qualifications • PMI Certification (PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP). • Prior experience with California state agency IT projects. • Background in coaching and mentoring senior project managers.
