THE CHALLENGE The Firewall Administrator is an integral member of the Cybersecurity team, providing industry expertise in the implementation, configuration, management, and support of Check Point firewalls. This position is a key contributor in deployment and acquisition projects, ongoing firewall lifecycle operations and support, and continuous improvement of firewall policies and rules in all Onward Energy IT/OT environments. Primary Responsibilities Planning • Case Review • Review all team cases • Prioritize cases • Coordinates team case management Project • Asset Acquisition Onboarding projects • Firewall deployments • Access control policy design and initial configuration • Networking changes Operations • Firewall operations • Configuration change control and documentation • Configures firewall policies • Firewall lifecycle • Firewall inventory documentation • Firewall lifecycle assessment • Firewall lifecycle patching and updates • Firewall deprecation and replacement Support • Firewall support • Firewall emergency and out-of-band patching • Firewall-related support tickets Training • Focus areas • Networking • Firewalls • Check Point products • Microsoft Products • Leadership • Project Management Research • Focus Areas • Firewalls THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED • 3-5 years of professional experience in a cybersecurity-focused firewall administrator/ network engineer role. • Demonstrable experience: • Implementing and configuring firewalls • Implementing security patches and policies • Troubleshooting security incidents • Analyzing network traffic to detect threats • Investigating security incidents • Develop and implement security standards, best practices, and compliance with regulatory requirements • Identify, prioritize, and implement firewall rules • Mastery of network security technologies: • Firewalls (Check Point, Cisco, Palo Alto) • Network IDS/IPS solutions • Network Security Monitoring (NSM) • Switch/router ACLs • Network access control solutions • IPSec and TLS based VPNs • SIEM logging and alerting THE TEAM Onward Energy team is comprised of industry professionals who embrace collaboration, dedication, and hard work while also being down to earth.
