The Senior Web Developer will play a critical role in supporting theNational Library of Medicine (NLM)—a global leader in biomedical research and data science—in its efforts to accelerate biomedical discovery and improve public health through data-powered research. This role will support the development and maintenance of high-performance, accessible, and secure web applications. Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs and user feedback.Coding & Documentation: Write well-structured, testable, and efficient code using best software development practices. Create and maintain comprehensive software documentation.Collaboration & Agile Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, researchers, and system administrators. Participate in Agile development processes and contribute to sprint planning and reviews.Cloud & DevOps Support: Support deployment and maintenance of web applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).Innovation & Continuous Learning: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends and apply them to development activities. Create and maintain software documentation.RequirementsMinimum Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, or related field6 years of relevant professional experienceBasic RequirementsExperience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and integrating RESTful APIsExperience with backend integration and database-driven applicationsFamiliarity with cloud platforms and DevOps toolsFamiliarity with accessibility standards (Section 508), Git version control, and SQL/NoSQL databasesStrong communication skills for working in ahighly technical environmentand translating complex issues into plain languageTo be successful at Ripple Effect, you must be able to pay attention to details, clearly communicate, work independently, and have an eagerness to learn.
