Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cloud computing, systems engineering, and information security. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based solutions while ensuring optimal performance and security across our infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop robust solutions that meet business needs. Responsibilities • Design and implement scalable cloud architectures using AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms. • Manage and optimise cloud resources for performance and cost-effectiveness. • Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell for deployment and management tasks. • Collaborate with development teams to integrate cloud services into applications using RESTful APIs and microservices architecture. • Ensure the security of cloud environments by implementing best practices in information security, including VPNs, firewalls, and access controls. • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to networking, load balancing, and service-oriented architecture. • Conduct system administration tasks across various operating systems including Windows, Linux, and UNIX. • Participate in continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes using tools like Jenkins and Git. • Document system designs, processes, and procedures for future reference. Qualifications • Proven experience in cloud engineering or a related IT role with a strong understanding of system architecture and design principles. • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, or Ruby on Rails. • Familiarity with database technologies including SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases. • Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Kubernetes. • Knowledge of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls. • Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies and agile practices. • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex systems effectively. • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders effectively.
