Description The Sr. Network Security Engineer will take responsibility for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting Palo Alto firewalls in a hybrid network environment. This role demands extensive experience with multiple vendor technologies and a keen understanding of PCI/DSS compliance requirements. Skills • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting Palo Alto firewalls • Extensive knowledge in at least 3 of the following areas: • Network Segmentation Techniques • Secure Web Gateways • Next-Generation Firewalls • Network Admission Control Systems • Hybrid Cloud Environments (AWS, Azure) • Wireless Security • DHCP, DNS, and IPAM (DDI) • Virtual Private Network (VPN) • Strong understanding of network technologies (Routing, Switching, IPsec, GRE, RADIUS, TACACS+, VRFs) • Knowledge of cybersecurity controls (IPS/IDS, SIEM, PKI, TLS, EDR, Threat Intelligence) • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous projects • Industry recognized Network Security Certification preferred Responsibilities • Document well-analyzed implementation and reversion plans for all changes • Administer and maintain Network Security platforms, including: • Firewalls • Web Secure Gateways • Network Admission Control • DNS, DHCP, and IPAM • Engage proactively with peers and key stakeholders to complete objectives • Participate in Network or Security Architecture design discussions • Respond in a timely manner to business correspondence • Complete service request tickets through the IT Service Manager platform • Maintain written documentation for new and existing processes and procedures • Conduct risk assessments and address findings as necessary • Implement and manage solutions adhering to SOP for Network Security • Ensure inclusion of security standards aligned with PCI/DSS, NIST, ISO, and CIS • Stay updated on changes in network security protocols • Perform changes in approved maintenance windows during nights and weekends • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in network security engineering • Proven ability to manage complex network security environments • Strong background in compliance with industry standards • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Education Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field Education Requirements Credential Category • Bachelor’s degree Experience Requirements • Minimum of 5 years in network security roles with direct experience in firewall management • Extensive experience with a hybrid network setup Why work in Baltimore, MD Baltimore, MD offers a vibrant urban environment rich in culture and history, along with a growing tech community.
