Job Description Job Title: Junior Business Analyst - Data Visualization & Automation (Business Analyst) Job Description: The Division of Oil, Gas, and Mining seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Business Analyst with a natural curiosity for data to join our team. This entry-level role is ideal for someone eager to explore and uncover insights through data, leveraging low-code/no-code platforms to support and enhance operations. You will contribute to the responsible management of Utah's natural resources by digging deeper into data trends, finding patterns, and identifying innovative solutions. While Salesforce experience is a plus, it is not required-comprehensive training will be provided. The successful candidate will become proficient in Salesforce, responsible for teaching others its effective use, and assisting in troubleshooting and resolving related issues. This role also involves managing the intake, review, and routing of regulatory forms under Rule R649-8, performing quality control checks, verifying well information, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. For more information about the Department of Natural Resources or the Division of Oil, Gas, and Mining, click the links below: Department of Natural Resources Division of Oil, Gas, and Mining Responsibilities As a Junior Business Analyst - Data Visualization & Automation, you will: Create and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI to provide actionable insights. Automate business processes using low-code/no-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Apps and Google AppSheet. Support the Salesforce transition, learning the platform, assisting with user training, and resolving related issues. Partner with various teams to gather data, streamline operations, and enhance efficiency. Manage the intake, review, and routing of regulatory forms under Rule R649-8, including quality control checks, well information verification, and accurate record-keeping. Produce and maintain reports for internal and public use, responding to inquiries as needed, and ensure data accuracy through periodic audits and database maintenance. Organize and facilitate meetings, including creating agendas and documenting notes for distribution. Collaborate with colleagues to understand their responsibilities and provide support as required. Qualifications Required/Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of standard business practices. Basic understanding of applications, data principles, and problem-solving methodologies. Ability to assess workload and effectively plan daily schedules. Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills. Willingness to learn Salesforce, including its use, user training, and troubleshooting. Ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple tasks. Ability to establish positive working relationships with operators, the general public, and other government agencies. Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures. Preferred/Additional Qualifications: Experience or knowledge in the oil and gas industry or a strong willingness to learn. Recent graduate with a degree in Business, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field, OR equivalent directly related work experience. Basic knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Apps, Google AppSheet) A natural curiosity with the ability to ask the right questions, explore data trends, and seek innovative solutions. Supplemental Information Working Conditions: This position primarily operates in a typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work is largely sedentary; however, it may involve occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required. Typical Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
