The University of Miami, Office of Risk Management, has an exciting full time opportunity for a Data Analyst 1 in Miami, Florida. The Data Analyst 1 performs basic data analysis using various techniques. This role assists with maintaining databases and dashboards to support the department’s planning needs, goals, and objectives. Key responsibilities include generating reports and analyzes data for internal planning processes and reporting purposes. This role also analyzes data to ensure accuracy and reports any issues to management. Core Job Functions • Performs basic data analysis using various techniques, e.g. statistical analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, data mining. • Researches best practices and supports developing the solutions and recommendations for the current business operations. • Generates reports and analyzes data for internal planning processes and reporting purposes. • Maintains databases and dashboards to support the department’s planning needs, goals, and objectives. • Provides basic business data interpretation, such as identifying trends or patterns of data sets. • Analyzes information in reports to support the department's planning, needs, goals, and objectives. • Analyzes data to ensure accuracy and reports any issues to management. • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Core Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required or equivalent Experience: Minimum 1 Year Of Relevant Experience Required Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting preferred Certification and Licensing: Health Data Analyst Certification, Power BI and/or 6 Sigma Green Belt (or higher) strongly preferred. Department Specific Functions The Data Analyst 1 (H) performs basic data analysis using various techniques and helps manage clinical risk management software to support quality data processes and patient safety and care goals. This role assists with creating and maintaining databases, dashboards, and reports to support the department’s planning needs, goals, and objectives. This role also analyzes data to ensure accuracy and reports any issues to management. • Creates and maintains databases and dashboards and analyzes information to support the department’s planning needs, goals, and objectives and to ensure accuracy of information • Supports the needs of the department from a data standpoint. • Assists in the preparation of reports submitted to the organization’s governing board. • Manages day-to-day operations of all performance analytics for the risk management department through the event reporting system. • Generates scheduled and on-demand reports to enable real-time view of events. • Develops reports and data tables for Risk Managers based on their needs for education and recommendations for appropriate corrective actions. • Administrates the incident reporting system and all functionality of the system throughout UHealth. • Collaborates with IT to maintain functionality of the incident reporting system and data extractions. • Addresses incident reporting system issues reported to IT. • Manages all aspects of clinical quality data and meets deadlines, inclusive of data collection, data analysis and interpretation, data submission, daily quality reporting issues, and outcomes report review. • Utilizes the Electronic Health Record (EHR), the incident reporting system, and any other appropriate resources to obtain valid, reliable data for developing dashboards. • Analyzes incident trends and risk metrics and translates data for senior management for meaningful decision-making and strategic planning purposes. • Uses data visualization tools in data analytics. • Assist with reports issued to governing board. • Propose process improvements based on trends and evidence-based practices. • Customizes reports based on department needs for specific data. • Supports departmental and other education and training initiatives. • Prepares presentations as needed. • Helps facilitate any Failure Mode and Effects Analyses and Root Cause Analyses as needed. • Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with service line teams, hospital leadership, and quality leadership to effectively facilitate appropriate data management, timely and accurate reporting of data and outcomes. • Gathers and organizes systemwide data for the administration of any surveys. • Distributes surveys and analyzes any resulting data as needed. • Solves data integrity issues as they arise. • Serves as a point of contact for UHealth’s Patient Safety Organization regarding monthly transfer data from the incident reporting system. • Partners with Risk Managers to identify, design, and build appropriate datasets and visualizations to be used for educational purposes. • Recommends and facilitates changes in the organization to improve patient safety based on identified risk. • Plans, markets, and helps support Patient Safety Week throughout the health system. • Leads initiatives to develop proactive risk assessment strategies across services to identify and mitigate patient safety risks. • Creates action plans for optimization of processes and future prevention, follow up and follow through on assigned action items for various projects, meetings, and committees. • Supports committee work throughout the organization. • Maintains current knowledge of relevant federal and state laws and accreditation standards. • Serves as a liaison to attorneys, insurance companies, and individuals, and investigates any incidents that result in an asset loss. • Works closely with senior leadership, corporate and defense counsel, department directors, corporate associates, and medical and health staff on risk management issues or concerns. • Represents the department at committee meetings.
