Director of Data Analytics Our Dallas-based client is seeking a Director of Data Analytics to provide strategic leadership and direction for the organization’s enterprise data governance, architecture, AI policy, and analytics programs. This leader will be accountable for shaping the company’s enterprise-wide data and AI vision, building a scalable data ecosystem, and driving measurable business value through innovation. The Director will serve as the senior subject matter expert and advisor, working with executive leadership, business stakeholders, product development teams, offshore resources, and IT to ensure data is a trusted, governed, and strategic enterprise asset. Job Responsibilities • Enterprise Data & AI • o Defines and executes the company’s enterprise data and analytics strategy in alignment with corporate goals. o Not the person driving the AI strategy, but making sure the AI data is available o Champion ethical AI use, governance, and workforce enablement. o Promotes data and AI as strategic assets of innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage. • Leadership & Governance • o Leads enterprise-wide data governance programs, stewardship councils, and executive steering committees. • o Oversees knowledge worker enablement programs to increase data and AI literacy across the company. • o Ensures compliance with data privacy, security, and AI regulations. • o Operates in the context of a publicly traded company actively engaged in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), ensuring governance, integration, and compliance standards are maintained across acquired entities. • o Owns financial planning, budget development, and ongoing budget management for the data and analytics organization, ensuring resources are aligned to business priorities and cost efficiency. • Data Architecture & Microsoft Platform Leadership • o Provides strategic oversight of enterprise data architecture and integration within a Microsoft-centric environment (Azure, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Power BI, SQL Server). • o Directs the design, deployment, and scaling of modern analytics platforms, data integration pipelines, and BI solutions. • o Ensures enterprise data is structured, secure, and optimized for analytical and operational use. • Global Team Leadership • o Manages and mentors both onshore and offshore resources, ensuring global alignment on data and analytics initiatives. • o Builds a high-performing, collaborative, and scalable data organization across geographies. • o Balances internal expertise with partner/vendor resources to optimize delivery and innovation. • Business Partnership & Enablement • o Engages with senior leaders across business units to identify opportunities where data and AI can enable growth, efficiency, and transformation. • o Partners with IT and product development teams to design scalable solutions for future data science and predictive analytics capabilities. • o Drives adoption of standardized data practices and promotes alignment and re-use of enterprise data assets. • Operational Excellence • o Directs data classification, audits, and compliance measures to protect sensitive and critical information. • o Ensures cost efficiency in managing enterprise data while maximizing return on investment. • o Implements proactive risk management, monitoring, and continuous improvement processes for data and AI initiatives. Job Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred). • 8+ years of progressive experience in Data & Analytics, with at least 3 years in enterprise leadership roles. • Proven success setting AI policies and building governance programs for emerging technologies. • Deep expertise in Microsoft technologies: Azure, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Power BI, SQL Server, and related enterprise tools. • Exposure to Microsoft Copilot (or something similar). • Experience managing offshore and global delivery teams. • Strong understanding of data governance, privacy regulations, and AI architectures. • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and related compliance requirements for publicly traded companies. • Financial acumen with proven experience in budget planning, forecasting, and resource management. • Started as a data analyst, data engineer, or architect before moving into leadership roles. • Background in manufacturing and engineering environments preferred. • Advanced skills in program management, executive influence, and leading enterprise-wide transformation. • Excellent change management and communication skills; able to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Occasional domestic and international travel required. Additional Notes: • Does not want somebody that's been a director of applications or other director type roles or has been a head of anything in a much smaller company. • Looking for somebody that's got a little bit more technical depth than just leadership, so they actually have technical acumen to talk to the tech, but they also have to have the business acumen to be able to put together presentations that talk about business value and budgeting. • They need to have good financial acumen. Exp. managing a budget or costs. • The role will involve managing 3-4 team members and some offshore resources • Travel requirement will be around 10%, with potential international travel.
