Overview The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable cloud environments. This role focuses on creating a secure, efficient, and reliable cloud infrastructure to support organizational goals and drive innovation. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams and Cloud Architects to ensure seamless integration, maximum availability, maximum performance and optimal use of cloud resources. The Cloud Engineer is responsible for developing and managing cloud platforms, ensuring performance, security, and cost-efficiency, and enabling cloud-native application development. Responsibilities • Design, build, and manage cloud platforms across AWS and Azure to meet organizational and application requirements. • Implement and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. • Configure and manage compute, storage, network, and security resources in cloud environments. • Ensure cloud infrastructure is highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant through appropriate architectural design. • Collaborate with development teams to enable cloud-native application deployments. • Automate cloud resource provisioning, monitoring, and scaling to optimize performance and cost. • Ensure the security of cloud platforms by implementing best practices, identity and access management (IAM), and encryption mechanisms. • Monitor cloud systems using tools like Prometheus, Datadog, or Splunk to ensure reliability and performance. • Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues and resolve incidents promptly. • Implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies to ensure data and service availability. • Stay up to date with emerging cloud technologies and recommend solutions to enhance platform capabilities. • Develop and maintain documentation, including architectural diagrams, operational procedures, and configuration guidelines. Additional Responsibilities • Drive cloud adoption across the organization by promoting platform capabilities and benefits. • Participate in cloud migration and modernization projects, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on cloud technologies and practices. • Conduct periodic reviews of cloud infrastructure to identify improvement opportunities. The Cloud Engineer plays a critical role in enabling digital transformation by building a secure, efficient, and scalable foundation for cloud-based solutions. This position ensures that organizations leverage the full potential of cloud computing to achieve their business objectives. Requirements Education: A combination of education, experience, and training should qualify the candidate. Certification(s) Preferred certifications include but are not limited to: • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional. • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert. • Kubernetes Administrator (CKA). • Terraform Associate Certification. • Docker Certified Associate. • AWS Certified Solutions Architect. Candidate Qualifications • A minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, platform development, or related fields. • In-depth knowledge of cloud services and tools from AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. • Proficiency in containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes. • Strong understanding of networking concepts, virtual private clouds (VPCs), firewalls, and DNS in a cloud environment. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools to ensure system performance and reliability. • Solid knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements for cloud environments (e.g., HIPAA, PCI DSS, GDPR). • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Required Skills • Expertise in designing and deploying scalable, cost-effective cloud infrastructure. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot complex cloud issues. • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell. • Knowledge of cloud cost management and optimization strategies.
