This role is based out of the Outpost, our Portland, Oregon office. The application window will be open until November 7 or until we reach our cap of 100 applicants. Beginning November 10, we will review applications and move selected candidates through our interview process with the goal of having all interns identified no later than the end of the year. About the TCCA Summer Intern Program: Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA)’s Summer Internship Program is a 10 to 12-week program for graduate and undergraduate students to join the Tillamook team to connect to our 115-year-old heritage. Our interns play a significant role in solving real-world business challenges and enjoy bites of our ice cream, cheese and beloved dairy products every step of the way. As a farmer-owned cooperative, we invite interns to visit the farms of our farmer-owners so they can see what cow care, environmental stewardship and the daily operations of a dairy farm look like, up close. In addition to the farm tour, we host multiple enriching experiences throughout the duration of the program, that include being an honorary Tillamook taste bud for the day with our immersive cheese and ice cream tastings, “college-inspired” cooking class with our executive chef, resume & interview workshop, sales market tours and so much more! What you will do: The IT Data & Analytics intern will assist with the business initiative to modernize TCCA’s data environment. The intern will join a SCRUM team of senior data professionals working on developing a central data warehouse in Microsoft Fabric. Specific tasks may be adjusted based on the candidate's experience, skills, or learning objectives. Responsibilities may include collaborating with business partners for requirements gathering, understanding reporting needs, and translating these into technical solutions. Other possible tasks consist of data modelling, data ingestion, data governance, predictive analytics, machine learning, and Power BI report development. The current project involves migrating TCCA data into Microsoft Fabric over two to three years, which can be divided into smaller assignments with clear objectives, goals, and milestones for the intern. For instance, if the intern is interested in requirements gathering and Power BI report development, they may be tasked with rebuilding an existing report in the new environment. This process involves meeting with business partners to assess the current report’s strengths and areas for improvement, identifying additional features, and establishing an iterative feedback process with stakeholders. This example project provides valuable experience in development standards, implementation and training protocols for new reports, data governance practices, stakeholder presentation techniques, data security measures, and peer review procedures. Additionally, it encompasses the technical competencies of report creation and requirements analysis. Here’s a day in the life: • Joining SCRUM team meetings like daily stand up, backlog refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives. • Shadowing senior developers to gain insights into varying career paths in data & analytics • Online training and programs for Microsoft Data Analytics Certifications • Relationship building with key business partners and learning more about the data stewardship program and the value it adds to a data & analytics team. • Become integrated into the peer review process on the team. • Troubleshooting or investigating broken code or reports. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program and not due to graduate the semester prior to the internship • Currently studying data analytics, computer science or similar fields • Experience or exposure with coding languages like SQL, Spark or Python • Data visualization through PowerBI, Tableau or Excel • Analyzing data • Proficient in a team dynamic We are committed to creating a diverse culture and inclusive conditions where all employees are heard, valued and feel a sense of belonging.
