This executive-level position requires a deep understanding of sports, a passion for data-driven decision-making, and a proven ability to translate complex analytical findings into actionable strategies for team performance, player development, and fan engagement. You will manage a team of analysts and collaborate closely with coaching staff, management, and marketing departments. Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive sports analytics strategy aligned with organizational goals. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data scientists and analysts specializing in sports performance. Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop sophisticated models to track and predict player and team performance. Analyze vast datasets from various sources, including game statistics, player tracking data, and scouting reports. Design and execute A/B tests and experiments to evaluate the impact of strategic changes. Collaborate with coaches and front office personnel to provide data-driven insights for player recruitment, game planning, and tactical adjustments. Develop predictive models for player health, injury prevention, and talent identification. Enhance fan engagement through data analysis of audience behavior and preferences. Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and concisely to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies in sports analytics and data science. Oversee the integration of new data sources and analytical tools into existing systems. Manage relationships with external analytics partners and vendors. Present strategic recommendations to senior leadership and contribute to long-term organizational planning. Foster a data-informed culture throughout the organization. Champion ethical data usage and ensure data privacy compliance. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Sports Science, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field. 10+ years of experience in data analytics, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the sports industry. Proven expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, predictive analytics, and data visualization. Strong knowledge of sports rules, strategies, and performance metrics across various disciplines. Proficiency with data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python (with libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn), R, SQL. Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights. Demonstrated experience in managing cross-functional projects and teams. A deep passion for sports and a keen understanding of the competitive landscape. Experience with player tracking systems (e.g., SportVU, Catapult) is highly desirable.
