Direct message the job poster from Bizmetric Type Contract| Duration 6 Months Location Houston, TX – Onsite| Rate $100+/hr| Start Immediate Role summary You will own the end-to-end technical work required to move thelegacy Azure FHIR environment to Azure Health Data Services, harden the platform, and extend it with CMS-mandated APIs. The role spans API migration, security engineering, API development, performance tuning, automated testing, and production cut-over. You will be the primary point of contact for all AHDS matters throughout the project. Key responsibilities Migrate the existing Azure API for FHIR workload—including bulk & delta data loads—to AHDS and upgrade to SMART on FHIR (Enhanced). Apply security layers (Azure AD OAuth 2.0, RBAC, private endpoints, WAF/NSGs) and validate HIPAA/HITRUST & CMS compliance. Enable and harden Patient Access and Provider Directory APIs; capture CMS reporting metrics via Azure Monitor workbooks. Design, build, and test new Payer-to-Payer, Provider, and Prior Authorization APIs on AHDS in Phase 2, including APIM policies and OpenAPI specs. Optimize platform performance & scalability ; conduct system/performance tests and regression/conformance suites. Drive release management: sprint planning, UAT coordination, production cut-over, hyper-care, and incident response. Produce artifacts —IaC templates (ARM/Bicep), runbooks, SOPs, living specifications, developer-portal documentation, and hand-over packs. Collaborate closely with Cloud Architects, API/App Developers, DevOps, Security, and client stakeholders. Requirements Experience 7+ years in cloud engineering 3+ years with Azure API for FHIR or AHDS 2+ years working with FHIR workloads Preferred: Delivered a payer-side CMS-compliant Patient Access or Payer-to-Payer API Technical Skills Infrastructure-as-Code: ARM/Bicep CI/CD with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps Scripting: PowerShell or Python Preferred: Experience with Da Vinci PDex & Prior Auth IGs Preferred: Security tools like Pester, Checkov Standards & Security Strong knowledge of HL7 FHIR R4, SMART on FHIR, HIPAA Familiar with CMS interoperability & reporting rules Testing & Operations Performance and load testing Automated regression testing Preferred: Chaos/resiliency testing on Azure Soft Skills Strong written and verbal communication Stakeholder-facing capabilities Preferred: Mentoring or team leadership experience Relevant Azure or HL7 certifications (e.g., AZ-305, HL7 FHIR Proficiency) are a plus.
