Job Description Role Overview: As a Cloud Foundations Engineer at Marriott, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure. Your efforts will ensure that our applications and services are secure, reliable, and performant. You will be responsible for the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems and technologies that support core customer-facing and enterprise products and platforms. As a subject matter expert in multi-cloud solutions, you will conduct research, analysis, design, creation, and implementation of systems to meet current and future requirements. Additionally, you will develop automation and infrastructure as code across Marriott platforms. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate the smooth deployment of cloud services across various operational environments. • Perform research, analysis, design, and creation of products and services within a service catalog to mature the cloud program and enable customer-facing and other enterprise products and platforms. • Optimize cloud resources for cost efficiency and performance. • Develop and enforce cloud security policies, IAM configurations, and network security controls. • Work with security teams to ensure that enterprise systems meet security standards and comply with industry regulations (e.g., SOX, ISO, PCI, GDPR). • Lead or participate in infrastructure projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. • Educate and mentor team members, operations staff, and other departments on cloud concepts across multiple cloud providers. • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime. • Install, configure, maintain, and support applications and systems in public cloud environments. • Deploy regions, landing zones, and control towers to ensure scalable and secure cloud environments. Technical Skills: • 4+ years of experience with configuring, managing, and solutioning with AWS or similar expertise in Azure, Alibaba Cloud, or GCP. • Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) frameworks, such as Terraform or CloudFormation, including writing templates and modules from scratch. • Experience in the design, implementation, and operational support of mission-critical solutions. • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell). • Experience with IAM, Active Directory, ADFS, SAML 2.0, and Single Sign-On practices. • Thorough knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems). • Experience with DNS, web traffic routing, and CDNs (CloudFront, Akamai, Cloudflare). • Experience with networking and firewall concepts and troubleshooting. • Experience using Agile and DevSecOps methodologies and practices. • Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines. • Ability to analyze solution components, understand systems integration challenges, and identify technology gaps in current components and functionality requirements related to cloud infrastructure. • Experience with setting up regions, landing zones, and control towers. • Proficiency in configuring and managing VPCs, routes, and general networking. Core Work Activities: • Maintain in-depth documentation of activities and system configuration. • Solve complex technical issues and function as an escalation point for the team in problem-solving. • Participate in project planning, including estimation of tasks, defining milestones, and ensuring realistic timelines. • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail. • Ensure a high level of accuracy, even with condensed timelines. • Participate in daily stand-up meetings to report accomplishments, plans for the day, and any roadblocks encountered. Soft Skills: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders. • Strong team collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. • A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest cloud-native services and industry best practices. The pay range for this position is $47.30 to $80.96 per hour.
