Role Overview The Local IT Help Desk / Support Technician is a hands-on IT professional with a strong foundation in Microsoft Azure, Office 365, networking, and end-user desktop support. This role requires a proactive problem-solver who enjoys working in both cloud and on-premise environments, thrives on variety, and is excited about delivering excellent support in the healthcare industry. Responsibilities Core Systems Administration & Support • Administer and support Windows servers, infrastructure, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V). • Manage Microsoft 365 environments including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and user access. • Implement and support Azure-based services including identity, security, networking, and virtual infrastructure. • Provide comprehensive Tier 1/2 desktop support (Windows and Mac), resolving escalated helpdesk issues remotely and onsite. Networking & Security • Design, configure, and maintain network components: VPNs, IP routing, ACLs, NAT, and load balancers. • Support secure remote access, TLS/SSL encryption, MFA, and other security best practices. • Assist with firewall and endpoint security configurations. Automation, Monitoring, and Tools • Use scripting tools (e.g., PowerShell) to automate repeatable tasks and improve operational efficiency. • Manage device configurations using MDM tools like Intune, Automate, and NinjaOne. • Maintain system updates and security patches across desktop and server environments. Client-Facing Field Support • Travel to client sites (primarily in the Phoenix Metro area) for scheduled support, installations, and issue resolution. • Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, identifying opportunities to optimize and improve their IT environments. • Document solutions, procedures, and systems clearly and consistently in our knowledge base. Qualifications Required Skills • 3-5+ years of experience in Systems Administration or Tier 1/2 IT Support • Strong working knowledge of: • Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, networking, AD/Azure AD) • Microsoft 365 administration • Windows Server environments • Desktop support (Windows and Mac) • Networking fundamentals: VPNs, NAT, Routing, DHCP/DNS • Mobile Device Management (Intune or similar) • Scripting (PowerShell preferred) • Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) Preferred Skills • Experience working with an MSP or in client-facing IT support roles • Exposure to healthcare IT (EHR/EMR systems, HIPAA, HITRUST) • Microsoft certifications (AZ-104, AZ-140, AZ-800, etc.) a plus Soft Skills • Excellent verbal and written communication • Strong troubleshooting and time management • Self-motivated with a service-oriented mindset • Comfortable working independently or collaboratively Location & Work Environment This is a full-time, primarily remote position, with on-site client support in the Phoenix, AZ Metro area. Occasional travel outside the region may be required for client visits or team gatherings. Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
