Overview: An International IT Solutions and Service Provider is seeking a Senior Application Support Engineer to join our IT operations team. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving issues across our SQL databases, application layers, and network infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with development, QA, and network teams to ensure high availability, performance, and scalable growth of our enterprise systems. Key Responsibilities: • Provide 24/7 production support, including on-call rotations, for SQL Server databases, application services, and network components • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents spanning T-SQL queries, application code, middleware, and network connectivity • Conduct root-cause analysis and drive corrective action to prevent recurrence of critical outages • Monitor system health using APM and network monitoring tools; tune performance for databases and application servers • Collaborate with developers on deployment planning, code reviews, and environment configurations • Create and maintain runbooks, architectural diagrams, and support documentation for complex solutions • Participate in design and architecture discussions to influence reliability, scalability, and security best practices • Coordinate with third-party vendors and cloud providers for escalations and service-level management Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a support or operations role covering SQL Server, application platforms, and network infrastructure • Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2012+) including performance tuning, backup/recovery, high availability, and replication • Strong understanding of application architecture patterns (n-tier, microservices) and web/application servers (IIS, Tomcat, WebLogic) • Solid knowledge of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancers) and troubleshooting tools (ping, traceroute, Wireshark) • Proficiency in scripting or automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to streamline repetitive tasks • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent incidents under tight deadlines Preferred Qualifications: • Certifications such as MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, CCNA, or equivalent • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and IaaS/PaaS services for databases and application hosting • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI) • Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging solutions (Dynatrace, New Relic, Splunk) • Understanding of ITIL processes and best practices in incident, change, and problem management Bonus Skills: • Proficiency in Japanese Language While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds.
