The Data Architect at Evolve will design and develop large-scale data warehouse and ETL solutions while ensuring high availability and disaster recovery for SQL Server databases in Azure. The role requires extensive experience in data engineering and database administration.
The Data Architect will architect, design, and hands-on code develop large scale data warehouse, ETL, data integration, and reporting solutions with disparate systems dealing with various types of challenging data. Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities: • Plan data integration and transformation process by developing common definitions of sourced data; designing common keys in physical data structure; establishing data integration specifications; examining data applications; examining data models and data warehouse schema; determining best-fit data interchange methods; assessing middleware tools for data integration, transformation, and routing; developing project scope and specifications; identifying factors that negatively impact integration; forecasting resource requirements; establishing delivery timetables. • Lead high availability and disaster recovery work for all SQL Server databases in Azure (SQL Server Always On) from architecture to design to hands on implementation, and ongoing support and maintenance, direct and collaborate with other team members. • Own ongoing database administration, performance, scalability, resiliency, stability, monitoring, alerting of the Evolve data ecosystem infrastructure in general. Implement best practices. • Analyze various data stores and database tables to establish knowledge of data for accurate retrieval and use. • Implement stored procedures and effectively query data source. • Experience designing and building complete ETL processes moving and transforming data for operational use. • Validates data integration by developing and executing test plans and scenarios including data design, tool design, data extract/transform, networks, and hardware. • Utilize available tools such as SQL, Power BI, Cognos, and Excel to provide technical reports for various requestors. • Present data in a way that is most meaningful and readily accessible to the requestor using a combination of application solutions and system reports. • Demonstrate outstanding communication skills to translate reporting requests in order to accurately meet the actual information and deadline needs of users. • Educate requestors on appropriate and desirable parameters to ensure they get the information they need. • Collaborate with end users to gather requirements and ensure proper testing and validation. Provide support to end users on standardized and ad hoc reports. • Work closely with IT to ensure security enforcement when deploying reports. • Programming custom solution tools as needed in an object oriented language of choice, along with documentation and training for those who will support the tools. Education & Experience: • Bachelor's degree with at least 15 years of relevant working experience in the data engineering and administration space. • Expert level knowledge and extensive hands-on experience in data engineering and using tools such as T-SQL, stored procedures, Python, Azure Data Factory, Azure DataBricks, Apache Spark/Pyspark, Synapse, SSIS, Power BI, SSRS, SQL Query Analyzer, Parquet, JSON, and Excel. • Expertise and hands on experience in SQL Server database administration and best practices in Azure environment • Expert level knowledge and hands on experience with architecting and implementing SQL Server in Azure for high availability and disaster recovery purposes, specifically SQL Server Always On implementations in Azure environments • Extensive working experience with Azure environment a must, experience with other Azure tools like Logic Apps, Functions Apps, Power Automate/Apps, Azure Storage, App Services, a big plus • Working knowledge of database architecture and design, data warehouse, data extraction, data modeling, and analysis. • Experience with other No-SQL databases like Cosmo and MongoDB a plus.
