This is a temporary position with an end date of 08/31/2025. Purpose The Senior Data (Technology) Architect & Analytics Lead will be a key member of UT-HIP program and Dell Medical School, focusing on the design and implementation of data structures and advanced analytics projects. This role will involve a deep understanding of data design, modeling, table and database design, and the use of advanced analytics tools and strategies. Responsibilities Core Architecture Team: Responsible for the overall data design and modeling. This includes designing tables and databases that are efficient, scalable, and meet the needs of the program and organization. Selecting and implementing advanced analytics tools and strategies to help the program gain insights from their data. Data Management & Analytics: define and manage the overall BI data architecture, including ETL processes, ODS/EDW/data marts/data lakes, and analytical engines that power insights. This involves overseeing advanced analytics projects, creating visualizations, and managing the process of exporting data for use in these projects. Epic + EHRs: Understand the data structure of the EHRs, how to extract and export data from them, and how to transform (ETL - Extract, Transform, Load) that data for use in analytics projects. Understand real-time decision support systems, which provide clinicians with real-time information to aid in decision-making. Knowledge of FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), CCDA (Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture), and HL-7 (Health Level Seven International), which are standards for exchanging healthcare information electronically. Presentations + Publications: Lead and participate in the creation of presentations and publications. Including presenting work at conferences, writing articles for publication in academic journals, or creating reports for internal stakeholders. This responsibility requires strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Technical Documentation: Deliver artifacts, technical documents, and architectural designs that meet business requirements. Collaborate with the IT operations team in building a long-term support model. Creating and maintaining technical documentation for the program and organization projects, architecture, and data designs. Other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing. Experience with business intelligence and big data solutions. Experience with ETL processes and tools. Experience with healthcare data standards like FHIR, CCDA, and HL-7 would be a plus. Experience with Epic or other electronic health record (EHR) systems. Proven experience in leading and managing advanced analytics projects. Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform is required. This includes experience in developing, deploying, and managing applications and data storage on these platforms. Strong knowledge of data architecture principles and best practices. Proficiency in SQL and other database technologies. Knowledge of advanced analytics tools and strategies. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Ability to lead teams and manage complex projects. Proficiency in cloud infrastructure management, including understanding of cloud-based data storage options, cloud security considerations, and best practices for deploying applications in the cloud. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing. Certifications related to data architecture, business intelligence, or related fields would be beneficial. EPIC Certifications. Certifications in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform would be a plus.
