GENERAL SUMMARY To setup, configure, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot all hardware and software utilized at the Community College of Denver. Work with other IT staff to develop proper procedures for server, storage, and network management. Produce and review documentation including disaster recovery planning, network diagramming, project details, and identity/account management. Provide support for CCD's Apple and Windows environments and infrastructure. Serve as a resource for other IT staff for general consultation and assistance. Configure, monitor, and develop best practice guidelines for backup systems and data retention. Assist in planning, evaluating, and making recommendations for server, storage, network, and system upgrades to senior staff. Utilize security and network systems monitoring and metrics to report infrastructure behavior and growth recommendations. Duties and Responsibilities The systems administrator will be responsible for configuring, managing, monitoring, and maintaining our file share infrastructure built on Lenovo Think Space servers and backed up to a Dell Data Domain appliance using Veeam. This requires thorough understanding of file share configuration, Active Directory (AD) permissions, and network configuration. It will also require familiarity with backup maintenance and industry best practices. The systems administrator will be part of a team that is responsible for setting up, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting our Cisco network infrastructure including core, edge, and distribution switches, wireless access points, and security appliances at all CCD locations. The job requires significant knowledge of the Cisco and Meraki family of products. A working knowledge of LAN and WAN routing and switching concepts/functionality on an Ethernet network is essential. CCNA or advanced is preferred. The systems administrator will be part of a team responsible for the configuration and deployment of Apple devices using the JAMF management platform. A working knowledge of the software and hardware processes used by Apple is preferred. The systems administrator is responsible for setup, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of any LAN/SAN/WAN technologies or similar which currently includes a fiber channel directly attached system. A working knowledge of these technologies is thus needed and/or an ability to plan for any changes or upgrades to this system. The systems administrator is responsible for creating and maintaining documentation involving all the above technologies and/or any other systems that may be added, configured, modified, etc. as part of duties listed above or below. The systems administrator is a resource to faculty and IT especially regarding general IT support related to above areas or more, if needed. The systems administrator position bridges many of the jobs that, in a larger environment, are done by several individuals. This person must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills (required) and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a highly motivated and dedicated team environment. The systems administrator must work at times with high-level support from Cisco, Microsoft, and other major product vendor engineers. The systems administrator will be needed at times to be able to recommend and/or select specific equipment needed for IT systems modifications incl. cabling, switches, security devices, system software, etc. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Education:(Minimum/Required) Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the industry. Experience:(Minimum/Required) 4 years network experience in a computer-related field with at least 4 years of education in IT coursework. Proven ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and deliver results. Experience working in SAN/Blade/Virtual JAMF server environments. Windows Server 2019/2022/2025 domain environment, Microsoft Active Directory (or Azure Active Directory), Apple/JAMF, dual factor authentication, firewalls, DNS, Cisco switching/routing and LAN/WAN Wifi, skills. Solid research and troubleshooting skills for above. Experience working onsite with students and faculty customers and working as part of a team. Licensure/Certification : Some certification from Cisco (CCNA), Microsoft (365, Azure, Security Practices), or Comp TIA (Network+, Security+, Tech+) is preferred. Equipment Used: All above plus network troubleshooting and miscellaneous hand tools and meters.
