Responsibilities • Create, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual machines, preferably using Microsoft Hyper-V. • Manage, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Failover Clusters. • Support a variety of mass storage arrays and RAID configurations. • Use Microsoft PowerShell to automate installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and management tasks. • Install servers into racks and load/configure Windows operating systems. • PXE boot servers and load images with Windows Deployment Services. • Replace/install RAM, hard drives, network cards, and storage cards in computers/servers. • Troubleshoot basic network issues (e.g., IP conflicts, DNS resolution) and assess switch port status. • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing technologies on site and consider emerging technologies. • Add, configure, and manage Roles and Features on Microsoft Server (current version), including but not limited to: • File and Storage Services • Print and Document Services • Remote Desktop Services • Troubleshoot Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) issues, including using SFC and DISM. • Manage tape backup servers, tape libraries, and tape workstations used to archive user data and perform system backups; refill blank tapes and handle non-routine operations (e.g., Arcserve backup and replication). • Configure and monitor systems/servers using Windows Admin Center and RSAT tools (e.g., Active Directory Users and Computers, Remote Desktop, Hyper-V Manager, Failover Cluster Manager, Windows Deployment Services). • Recognize failed hardware (drives, power supplies, components, or servers) and follow detailed instructions to identify, troubleshoot, and replace faulty equipment. Qualifications • Minimum mid-level experience in systems/equipment installation, administration, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and validation. • Proficiency with Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Failover Clusters, and mass storage arrays/RAID configurations. • Experience with Windows Server administration, PowerShell automation, PXE/WDS deployment, hardware replacement, and basic network troubleshooting. • Ability to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies; experience with Windows Server Roles/Features (File and Storage Services, Print/Document Services, Remote Desktop Services). • Familiarity with WSUS, SFC, and DISM for server maintenance. • Experience with tape backup infrastructure and disaster recovery operations. • Knowledge of Windows Admin Center and RSAT tooling. • Ability to work within a polygraph-required contract process post-onboarding.
