Azure Technical Lead Location's: Plano, TX & Houston, TX. USC/GC. Contract role. About the Role We are seeking a hands-on Azure Technical Lead with deep expertise in Azure governance, security, policies, and infrastructure automation. This is a technology leadership role, not a people management or scrum master position. The ideal candidate is an expert who can architect, design, and implement Azure solutions while driving technical discussions, writing Terraform code, setting up Azure Policies, and guiding teams through implementation. Key Responsibilities • Lead the design and implementation of Azure Governance, Security, and Policy frameworks across multi-environment enterprise setups. • Develop, enforce, and maintain Azure Policy, RBAC, and compliance baselines aligned with corporate standards. • Architect and build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for scalable Azure deployments. • Drive automation and DevOps initiatives through CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and scripting (PowerShell/Python). • Define and implement Azure Landing Zones, network security models, and tagging standards. • Collaborate closely with platform and security teams to integrate monitoring, identity, and access controls. • Troubleshoot, optimize, and secure Azure workloads for performance, cost, and compliance. • Provide technical mentorship to engineers-leading by example, not by hierarchy. • Stay current with Azure innovations and recommend architectural and governance enhancements. Required Skills & Experience • 18+ years of overall IT experience, with 5+ years of hands-on Azure expertise. • Proven track record in Azure Governance, Security, Policy creation/testing, and Compliance enforcement. • Strong proficiency in Terraform (IaC) and managing Azure infrastructure at scale. • Deep understanding of Azure AD, RBAC, Resource Locks, Blueprints, and ARM templates. • Advanced scripting experience using PowerShell and/or Python. • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Spinnaker. • Solid grasp of Azure Networking (VNETs, Private Links, Firewalls), Storage, and Compute services. • Exposure to Azure Monitor, Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, and Security Center. • Demonstrated ability to design, review, and enforce governance-compliant architectures in large enterprises.
