Our direct client is looking for a SQL Server Migration DBA for Hybrid (upto 3days/wk) Contract position in Trenton, NJ. J0B DESCRIPTION: • Client is looking for a Mid-Level SQL Server Migration DBA to support planning, execution, and validation of database migrations with practical experience in SQL Server administration/migration tools across multiple versions and hybrid platforms. • Client is looking for a mid-level SQL Server DBA consultant with experience in SQL Server database administration, clustering, always on availability groups, server management, backup & restore of SQL Server databases with focus on database migration spanning multiple SQL Server versions, multiple state agencies. Key responsibilities • Assist with the assessment and documentation of existing SQL Server environments. • Support database migration efforts including backup/restore, scripting, data transfers, and validation. • Perform routine health checks and troubleshooting during and after migrations. • Collaborate with senior DBAs, infrastructure, and application teams. • Execute test migrations and contribute to performance tuning and optimization. • Ensure data integrity, security, and minimal application impact throughout the process • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and security compliance throughout the migration process. • Maintain documentation and support incident resolution post-migration. SKILL MATRIX: • Hands-on experience in SQL Server administration and support (versions 2012 through latest) - Required • Familiarity with SQL Server migration processes and tools (e.g., Data Migration Assistant, backup/restore, alwayson, or log shipping). - Required • Proficiency in T-SQL and scripting for automation - Required • Working knowledge of SQL Server features like jobs, indexes, users/roles, and performance plans. - Required • Experience supporting on-premises and/or hybrid environments - Required • Strong understanding of SQL Server tools: SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Profiler. - Required • Hands-on experience with database migration tools and techniques (e.g., Data Migration Assistant, Backup/Restore, Log Shipping, Always On, etc.) - Required • Experience with cloud-based migration (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server) - Nice to have • Troubleshooting and performance tuning skills. - Plus to have Question 1: Where does your candidate currently reside (City & State)?
