Job Title: System Administrator Job Overview: A system administrator will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of our computer systems, servers, and network infrastructure. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our IT environment, enabling our company to achieve its strategic goals. Duties and Responsibilities: Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, manage, and maintain physical and virtual servers, operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), and related network infrastructure. User & Access Control: Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights within Active Directory and other systems to ensure security and operational integrity. Network Administration: Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi networks to ensure seamless connectivity and performance. Security & Monitoring: Implement and enforce security policies, monitor system logs for threats, manage antivirus solutions and firewalls, and perform regular security audits to protect company assets. Backup & Recovery: Develop, implement, and manage robust backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and business continuity. Regularly test backup and restore procedures. Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Serve as a key point of contact for diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, and network issues. Provide timely and effective support to end users. Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or other languages to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency. System Maintenance: Perform regular system updates, patch management, and performance tuning to ensure optimal uptime and reliability. Documentation: Create and maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures. Asset Management: Manage the lifecycle of IT hardware and software assets, including procurement, deployment, and license compliance. Very strong technically, able to fix and handle more issues internally, engage with our vendors to schedule repairs when necessary, and continually visit the assigned spaces to ensure all equipment is up and running, willing to work after hours when sporadically asked. Anticipates potential issues, stays alert for new IT opportunities, investigates new technology, and raises it to the attention of IT team leaders. Has excellent customer service skills, the ability to understand the business and clearly relay information in layman’s terms, and build relationships. Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Ability to multi-task. Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with a heavy focus on customer service. Demonstrate sound written, oral, and organizational skills. Collaborate with local and remote teams using provided tools. Qualifications and Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, or a related technical field is preferred, though equivalent professional experience will be considered. A Master's degree may be preferred if hired at a higher level. Professional certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Server+, Network+, Security+, or MCSA are highly desirable. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS). Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving abilities: The capacity to analyze problems and develop logical solutions. Good communication skills: The ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Teamwork and collaboration: A willingness to work with others, share knowledge, and accept feedback. Eagerness to learn: A proactive approach to acquiring new skills and knowledge. Current knowledge or ability to learn computer-based systems required for the functions of the position. Required to maintain an overall professional appearance and attitude. Physical Demands: Fine and/or gross motor skills, including the ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry or otherwise move packages on a standard wheeled cart with a load capacity of 60 lbs. Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stand, and/or sit for an extended period of time. Manual dexterity required for operating office machinery (phone, copy machines, binding equipment, etc.). Physically able to talk on the phone and input data simultaneously. Ability to lift or move 40 lbs. or greater frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, and the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness. Travel: Local travel may be required.
