Job Description The City of Newton, MA Information Technology Department network administrator will assist in managing our computers, applications, Share Point administration, VoIP phones, smartphones, and networks across multiple City buildings. This is an entry level position. Supervision: Supervision Scope: Direct report to the Senior Administrator of Staff Management, the Network Administrator will work independently and with teams. Regular follow-ups on progress, expectations, requirements and resources will be discussed in scheduled meetings as well as impromptu conversations as needed. Supervision Received: Guidance and site-specific training on all applications will be supplied. Systems documentation will be provided. Administrators will be assisted in supporting our systems in a manner equivalent to that to which our constituents have come to expect. Supervision Given: None. Working onsite, independently, and collaborating with the team, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows computers, peripherals, associated software, and performing user administration using AD and Microsoft 365. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Multitasking and organizational skills required in a fast-paced environment supporting 750 end users via phone, and in person. • Works with our onsite VoIP system and performs advanced troubleshooting of phone connectivity of desk phones. • Acts as a first line of support in troubleshooting laser printer support calls, network connections, city cell phones, systems training, and applications support. • The Network Administrator is required to preserve the confidentiality of any information (including personal information kept on computers or other media) regarding City of Newton Operations, staff, or residents of the city. • Performs other duties as assigned.
