Job Title: Windows System Administrator Location: Belvidere, NJ 07823 (100% Onsite – No Remote) Job Summary: Client is seeking a Senior Windows System Administrator to manage and maintain its Windows server environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Windows Server 2016 and above, Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS replication. This role requires strong documentation skills and the ability to guide, teach, and lead others within the IT team. The candidate will work 100% onsite and be involved in system assessments, documentation, optimization, and potential migration efforts. This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to extend based on project needs and performance. Key Responsibilities: • Administer, support, and optimize Windows Server environments (2016 and newer; some exposure to 2012). • Review and refine existing Group Policies; ensure correct application and compliance. • Lead efforts to document current system configurations and workloads. • Perform DNS replication analysis, validation, and documentation. • Assist in Active Directory troubleshooting, replication review, and user authorization setup. • Collaborate with team members and guide less-experienced staff on system configurations and best practices. • Participate in system migration planning (e.g., potential migration to 2020 servers). • Ensure Hyper-V environments are operating efficiently. • Validate backup configurations and disaster recovery readiness. • Produce comprehensive technical documentation using provided County templates. Technical Environment: • ~600 Desktops • 50 Virtual Machines • 12 Physical Servers • Windows Server 2016+, including one Server 2012 • DNS, AD, Group Policy • Hyper-V Virtualization • Windows Backup Must-Have Qualifications: • 5+ years of hands-on Windows Server administration experience (2016 or newer). • Strong knowledge of: • Active Directory (AD) and Replication • DNS and DNS replication • Group Policy management and design • Experience with Hyper-V environments and Windows backup tools. • Excellent documentation and communication skills. • Ability to work onsite full-time from Day 1. • Must be able to take initiative as a “#2” in the environment—be reliable, collaborative, and technically proficient. Preferred Qualifications: • Prior experience working in public sector/government environments. • Resides within 40 miles of Belvidere, NJ. • Able to teach, lead, and mentor junior team members.
