Job Description: As a SQL Server Database Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting multiple mission-critical databases across various applications. This role involves both independent work and collaboration with cross-functional teams including developers, network engineers, and server administrators. The successful candidate will administer databases, optimize performance, ensure data integrity and security, and support database architecture and development activities. You will also serve as backup to the chief of the database administration section when required. Key Responsibilities: • Perform database management activities using Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019 • Install and configure database software • Analyze, design, and review logical and physical data models • Support the application development life cycle and related database needs • Perform data analysis, correction activities, and migrations • Load and migrate data between database structures • Review and migrate stored procedures; recommend and implement performance improvements • Write and use SSIS packages and PowerShell scripts for automation • Follow and enforce established PDE database standards and practices • Monitor and tune database performance and manage space requirements • Resolve performance issues and assist with database version upgrades • Maintain database access security and ensure data integrity • Ensure backup processes are in place and restore capabilities are tested • Assist with infrastructure and software assessments and recommendations • Work collaboratively in team environments and communicate effectively • Provide accurate time estimates and schedule for tasks • Use Azure DevOps for source control, task management, documentation, and time tracking • Deliver timely updates to the DBA Section Chief and project managers • Execute responsibilities with minimal supervision • Represent DBA staff in meetings and provide relevant updates • Stay current with new SQL Server features and related technologies and recommend adoption as appropriate • Recommend and apply best practices for database administration Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies: • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019 • Expertise in database design, performance tuning, and maintenance • Proficiency in writing and managing SSIS packages and PowerShell scripts • Experience in data migration, stored procedures, and backup/restore operations • Knowledge of database security practices and compliance standards • Familiarity with Azure DevOps for task and version control • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications and reporting systems • Ability to represent DBA interests in cross-functional meetings • Up-to-date knowledge of current SQL Server tools and features The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $75.00/hr.
