Microsoft 365 Engineer Reports To:Director, Enterprise Systems Summary We are looking for a highly proficient Microsoft 365 Engineer to champion the effective design, implementation, management, and ongoing evolution of our Microsoft 365 environment. You will ensure that our organization leverages these cloud-based tools to maximize collaboration, productivity, and data security in line with business goals. Core Responsibilities: • Architecture and Design: • Collaborate with IT leadership to design and implement a scalable Microsoft 365 architecture that aligns with business needs and IT strategy. • Develop migration plans for existing on-premises systems to Microsoft 365, addressing technical dependencies and ensuring data integrity. • Analyze and recommend new Microsoft 365 features and services, evaluating their potential impact on the organization. • Implementation and Configuration: • Deploy and configure core Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, etc.) along with advanced workloads like Power Platform and enterprise security solutions. • Configure and implement Azure Active Directory synchronization with on-premises systems, including hybrid identity models. • Establish and enforce user provisioning workflows, security policies, and compliance controls within the M365 tenant. • Administration and Support: • Proactively manage user accounts, licenses, permissions, and access rights, ensuring data protection and streamlined collaboration. • Provide expert-level technical support (tier 2/ tier 3) for complex Microsoft 365 issues, escalating to Microsoft as required. • Analyze system performance and usage, identifying bottlenecks and designing solutions to optimize user experience. • Security and Compliance: • Implement Microsoft 365 security features including multi-factor authentication (MFA), conditional access, encryption, and data loss prevention (DLP). • Monitor security alerts, investigate anomalies, and contribute to threat remediation strategies. • Define and enforce data retention, archiving, and eDiscovery policies. • Training and Enablement: • Develop and deliver training materials and sessions on Microsoft 365 best practices and effective use of applications. • Mentor junior IT staff to enhance their Microsoft 365 knowledge and administration skills. Qualifications: • Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. • Certifications: • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate and/or Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert (or equivalent certifications). • Additional security-related certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate) are a strong plus. • Experience: • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Microsoft 365 administration and engineering. • Demonstrated experience in Azure Active Directory design and management. • Technical Expertise: • In-depth knowledge of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and the Power Platform. • Expertise in Microsoft security tools (Intune, Endpoint Manager, Defender for Office 365, etc). • Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation and administration tasks. • Working knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshooting. Desirable Attributes: • Project management experience in IT deployment or migration projects. • Understanding of ITIL or similar service management frameworks • A passion for cloud technologies and a keen interest in Microsoft's product roadmap.
