Work Year: 12 months (260 days) Bargaining Unit: OSEA FLSA Status: Exempt Salary: AA-AB range JOB TITLE: Data & Application Systems Administrator REPORTS TO: Information Technology Director FTE: 1.0 (8 hours per day) 7:30 am to 4:00 pm START DATE: As soon as possible after hire GENERAL DUTIES SUMMARY: Provide technical and data support for the district’s education and business systems. Manage system updates, access, and integrations while ensuring data accuracy for reporting and project needs. Collaborate with staff and vendors to maintain and improve systems interoperability. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES Employees in this classification must possess the requisite skill, experience, education, and ability to perform the essential functions of the job required with or without reasonable accommodations: • Diagnose and resolve issues in designated critical district systems during daily operations; provide off-hours support as needed to ensure timely recovery and continuity of services. • Contact/act as liaison with contracted vendors and various TTSD department staff (i.e. business, payroll, HR, operations) to support designated district systems. • Obtain a thorough knowledge of Oregon Department of Education (ODE) data reporting requirements, how these data elements are tracked and implemented within the finance and student systems, & accurately submit (or coordinate the submission) of data to ODE. • Serve as system administrator for staff on both student and finance related of assigned district systems. • Collaborate with the District Systems Administrator to plan, coordinate, and manage software upgrades and backup schedules for district systems. • Working knowledge of various database querying & reporting tools (SQL, Business Objects, MS SQL Reporting Services) • Analyze and implement new State & Federal data reporting requirements as they relate to the district information systems • Develop a deep understanding of the database structures underlying the district’s educational and business systems, including their connections to related third-party applications. • Coordinate with outside contractors and programmers for computer hardware/network installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting • Act as backup for "District Systems Administrator” • Represent the district on state and regional user groups • Develop and maintain a library of queries for various information system databases to efficiently respond to data requests. • Provide data for administrative reports • Continually improve SQL and other technology skills related to this position and department directives • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems. • Work regularly with IT staff and school support staff to share planning, training, and system information. • Adhere to FERPA regulations and District policy when working with confidential data • Maintain related district systems’ maintenance and licenses agreements. • Collaborate with the IT system administration team to regularly revise and update the TTSD cybersecurity plans, ensuring alignment with evolving industry standards ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, FUNCTIONS, AND CAPABILITIES • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or comparable training and experience • Two years of experience in a related field supporting networked services with a variety of server platforms (Windows, Linux, etc). • Experience working with business application of web-based technologies • SQL Query language skills and database reporting skills • Proven expertise in managing Windows Active Directory environments and implementing Group Policy for secure and efficient system operations. • Demonstrated proficiency in administering Microsoft SQL Servers, including configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization. • Consult with users and effectively research products in order to recommend alternative solutions to problems in hardware and software selection and design. • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical staff; Work with a diverse staff • Adapt readily, use independent judgment, initiate appropriate action, and demonstrate integrity • Be able to multitask and manage multiple disruptions in a day • Effective time management and proven ability to meet deadlines • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently • Possess reliable transportation available for daily use and a valid driver’s license WORKING CONDITIONS The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. EVALUATION Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Tigard-Tualatin School District 23J and Oregon School Employees Association Chapter 51. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a 12-month assignment with initial placement in the AA Range of the Exempt Classified Job Schedule. Employees can advance to the AB Range of the Exempt Classified Job Schedule by meeting the following criteria: completing two years of service with the District, obtaining a letter of recommendation from their direct supervisor, and consistently demonstrating the skills required for this position as reflected in their annual reviews. The assignment of step will be in compliance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement and range of pay is located in the current Classified Salary Schedule.
