Location: Margaret H Molloy Administration Bldg, 602 E 22nd St, Tucson, AZ 85713 Classification: Hourly, non-exempt Supervisor: Physical Resources Director Supervises: None Job Summary: As a member of the Physical Resources (PR) Department team, reporting to the Physical Resources (PR) Director, the Maintenance Specialist performs duties with a high level of autonomy within the department’s standards of operation for prioritization of work, quality of work, and overall safety. The MS performs a variety of skilled and unskilled work in the maintenance and repair of 41 buildings and grounds. Each Maintenance Specialist has responsibility for 13-15 centers based on a geographic territory across the five counties in Southern Arizona. In addition, the Maintenance Specialist may be called upon to perform work or provide support for buildings and equipment outside of the assigned centers dependent on workloads and cyclical needs. The Maintenance Specialist evaluates and completes repairs or preventive maintenance identified in the agency's Work Request System database or cyclical calendar. Work Requests include and are not limited to minor repair and maintenance in the areas of flooring (VCT, vinyl, or quarry), cabinetry (locks, hinges, handles, sanding and varnishing), doors (handles, locks, hinges), plumbing (leaks, replace faucets, replace valves, replace and/or mount sinks, hot water heater, toilets, irrigation boxes, valves, or heads), electrical (replace ballasts, switches, outlets, lights), painting (doors, walls, door frames), drywall (patching, tape, and texture), windows (board or secure and or replace), HVAC (replace filters inside and/or rooftop, thermostats), swamp cooler maintenance, workstation (assemble or disassemble), delivery and set up classroom furniture (chairs, tables, shelving), appliance maintenance (clean coils, clean filters), and installation of a variety of items such as dispensers, bulletin boards, signs, plant hooks, and similar. The Maintenance Specialist uses a computer to respond to service requests and emails on a daily basis. The Maintenance Specialist complies with Office of Head Start and Childcare Licensure health and safety regulations; performs assigned tasks independently and ask for supervision or guidance as needed; understands and follows oral and written directions; works from blue prints, shop drawings and sketches; and establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Minimum Requirements • Possess a High School Diploma or GED. • Must be 18 years old. • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a handyman, repair and maintenance worker, or working with minor cabinet, door, lock, electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall, classroom furniture refinishes and repair, basic carpentry, or irrigation repair or troubleshooting. • Read, write, and speak English. • Submit a current AZ Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to start date. • Must have possessed a valid driver’s license within the US for the previous 3 years. This travel could begin before daylight hours and continue after sundown in some situations. • Provide proof of immunizations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Tdap (adult Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis), and a clear Tuberculosis skin test or chest X-ray. • Able to pass a company paid physical exam prior to starting work. • Able to pass a criminal background check. • Must be able to prove the right to work in the USA by providing appropriate documents to complete the Federal I-9 form Desired Qualifications: • Minimum three (3) years construction experience • Minimum five to ten (5-10) years’ experience as a maintenance worker • Minimum one to three (1-3) years' experience working in Microsoft Office 365 • Minimum three to five (3-5) years’ experience working in an educational setting in the maintenance field. • Minimum of three (3) years working with building codes and requirements. • Read, write, and speak Spanish.
