The Alaska Division of Elections is looking for an Analyst/Programmer! What You Will Be Doing This position assists in maintenance and development of the division’s software applications and coordinates the physical and cyber security programs. Examples Of Duties Create decision matrixes, flow charts and other operational contingency documentation. Maintain and update end user experiences in both Model-Driven and in Canvas power platform applications. Coordinate the security programs related to each of the division’s systems including but not limited to: Voter Registration and Election Management, Ballot Tabulation System, Online Voter Registration, Online Absentee Ballot Application System, Online Ballot Delivery System, My Voter Information Portal, the division’s public web site. Operate systems and processes that increase the security and stability of election services. This includes, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, incident response systems, disaster recovery systems, and networking monitoring tools. Acting as a liaison between technical staff, other state agencies, vendors and management on security practices for the division’s offices and systems. Oversee vendors and contracts that improve the security, efficacy, and stability of the entire elections process (cyber and physical). Act as the primary coordinator for remediation efforts related to any security related events (again physical and cyber). Create regular situational security reports for the Division Operations Manager. Create automated scripts that facilitate streamlined workflows for users of the division’s various software systems. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Basic understanding of security architecture, systems security, network security, application security and disaster recovery. Basic knowledge of Microsoft’s Power Platform and its related development spaces (Power Automate, Power BI etc.) Experience connecting disparate data systems into a single end user application. Experience with data conversion projects. Basic knowledge of a variety of operating systems, features, and environments including Windows Server, IIS, SFTP, and Azure. Basic knowledge of security incident management, collaboration and conflict management. Strong organizational and self-motivated skills, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to changing environments. Ability to articulate IT security and privacy issues in a clear and actionable manner to non-technical staff and understand political relationships between agencies. Ability to work under pressure with a high degree of independence and accuracy. Ability to prepare reports, test and evaluate software packages and systems. Ability to read, understand and apply information in technical manuals, journals, and the ability to apply and understand statutes and regulations.
