Schedule: Monday - Friday Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week FLSA Status: Salary, exempt Clearance: Top Secret Position Summary The Senior Linux Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Linux server infrastructure directly supporting the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) – located at the SOCOM Headquarters at MacDill, AFB FL. This role involves ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the systems, as well as supporting and optimizing diverse services and applications running on Linux. This role requires advanced technical skills, extensive experience with Linux operating systems, and the ability to manage complex environments. The Senior Linux Administrator will work closely with other IT (Information Technology) professionals to ensure the seamless operation of the IT infrastructure. The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end-user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and the end-user who operates around the globe 24x7x365. The performance of this position is key to RavenTek's performance on the contract and, therefore, RavenTek's mission to support SITEC. Essential Duties and Responsibilities System Administration: • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems. • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and related infrastructure. • Monitor system performance and ensure the reliability and availability of systems and applications. • Perform regular system updates, patches, and security configurations. • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls. System Monitoring and Troubleshooting: • Implement and manage monitoring tools to ensure the health and performance of the Linux environment. • Identify and resolve hardware and software issues and provide timely support to end-users and other IT staff. • Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement preventive measures. Security Management: • Implement and maintain security policies and procedures to safeguard the Linux environment. • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. • Respond to and mitigate security incidents. Backup and Recovery: • Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans. • Ensure regular backups are performed and tested for data integrity and recoverability. Automation and Scripting: • Create and maintain scripts to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency. • Utilize configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to manage system configurations. Documentation and Reporting: • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes. • Provide regular reports on system performance, security status, and project progress. Collaboration and Support: • Work closely with other IT teams to support application deployments, system integrations, and infrastructure projects. • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior administrators and other IT staff. • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period. • Submit MSRs as required. • Monitor Raventek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly. • Complete required compliance training as assigned. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Critical Skills • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl. • Strong understanding of network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SSH). • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). • Knowledge of storage solutions (e.g., SAN, NAS, NFS). Education & Work Experience • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Linux system administration. • Proven experience with Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc. • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM). • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus. • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef). Certifications, Licenses • DoD 8570.01M IAT II required • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) preferred • Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) preferred • CompTIA Linux+ preferred Special Requirements • TS/SCI clearance required. Work Environment Employees will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs regularly.
