About the role: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior System Administrator to join the PMAT Information Technology team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of, and hands-on experience with managing Windows and Linux-based systems and network equipment. This candidate will be integral to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our servers and systems, and play a critical role in supporting our organization's IT operations and business objectives. Candidate will have a thorough understanding of how to assess and remediate vulnerabilities, apply necessary patches, and continuously monitor systems to uphold the highest standards of security and compliance within a government or defense-related IT environment. Responsibilities: • Manage and maintain Windows, Linux, and ESXi servers, VPNs, hardware and software, including installation, configuration, and ongoing updates • Implementing and managing backup and recovery procedures to protect data and ensure system availability. • Managing network infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, and other network devices. • Implement and maintain security hardening compliance across various systems and network infrastructure • Develop and maintain backup and recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability • Provide support to end-users, including resolving system-related issues and answering technical queries • Assessment and remediation of vulnerabilities according to cyber security guidelines • Ensuring the security of systems and networks, including implementing security measures, managing user access, and monitoring threats. • Monitor and track and corporate infrastructure products (hardware and software) for license tracking and End of Life planning • Research and Investigate exploits and vulnerabilities and implement recommended remediations • Apply security patches and updates in a timely manner to keep systems secure and up to date • Installing software updates and upgrades, testing new software, and ensuring compatibility with existing systems. • Monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance • Develop and maintain backup and recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps • Provide support to end-users, including resolving system-related issues and answering technical queries • Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements to optimize system efficiency. Required Skills and Experience: • At least 8 to 10 years of related work experience in a Network or System Administrator position. Prefer candidates to have had supervisory experience managing teams of other network and system administrators. • Exceptional time management skills with a strong ability to multi-task • Deep knowledge and proven experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux) • Strong knowledge of Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance standards, DISA STIG guidelines, and Operating System and Network hardening • Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible). • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). • Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., VMware, Docker). • Familiarity with security assessment tools and vulnerability scanning tools • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services or other Cloud technologies (GCC High, Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, etc) • Must possess CompTIA Security+ certification Education and Certification Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) Citizenship and Clearance requirements: • US Citizenship required • SECRET or higher security clearance Location: Onsite in San Diego, CA Work Environment: PMAT offices as needed. In some cases, work in a government facility may be required. Travel may be required for customer engagement, team coordination, and potentially for business development.
