Position SummaryWe are looking for a talented Senior Cloud Engineer who has the experience and knowledge necessary to help build out and improve our existing cloud and on premise infrastructure, and troubleshoot problems as they arise. This is a senior level position within the Engineering team. The position is responsible for building, maintaining and monitoring core systems and applications, managing instances, contributing to the design and maintenance of cloud and on-premise resources. Responsibilities include automating server and service deployments and upgrades, scripting, performance monitoring and tuning, process automation and capacity planning.The position will involve mentoring and collaborating with other senior engineering staff.This position requires after hours support, occasional weekend work and a flexible work schedule. General supervision will be provided for this position. The position requires understanding the overall business process and structure, enforcing Sarbanes-Oxley and other corporate and department rules and procedures.Essential DutiesPublic (Azure) and Private (VMWare) Cloud infrastructure design, build, configuration and capacity planningIaaC development utilizing standard industry tooling such as Jenkins, Terraform, othersWindows and Linux server installation, configuration, tuning, monitoring and break-fix supportApplication functional and performance monitoring, root cause analysis and resolutionCreation, deployment and management of Cloud based resources in a global, complex environment; Azure experience is requiredEstablish and maintain environment configuration specifications, manage upgrade and deployment IaaC processes through all stages of the SDLC and deployment historyContribute on System Design activities for new requirements. Develop solutions in alignment with industry best practices and corporate security standards.Perform daily maintenance tasks, system and application log reviews, break-fix supportWork with Project Teams to determine and advise on technical scope for new projectsProduce and maintain high quality technical documentation for systems, applications, scripts, automation and processesConduct routine systems and application patches and upgradesSupervise senior engineering staffMentor engineers on cloud technologies and modern IaaC techniquesAdhere to established processes and proceduresMaintain confidentiality of company-sensitive dataKeep direct supervisors informed of activities and situations which will impact the achievement of corporate and department goals and objectivesPerform other related duties, as required, to achieve the goals and objectives of the company and department.Skills, Knowledge And AbilitiesProficient knowledge of scripting with 1 or more technologies: Azure CLI, PowerShell, Batch, Shell, Python, Azure ARM, etc.Solid understanding of Azure service offerings and ability to design secure hybrid solutionsExtensive server, OS, Cloud Service, application and network troubleshooting experienceSolid experience in overseeing the design and implementation of systems, applications and related processes both on premise and in the cloudStrong understanding of computer technologies and the direction of new technologiesKnowledge of applicable IT security, confidentiality and data privacy practicesCompetence with documenting, flowcharting and project management tools and proceduresStrong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to solve complex problems quickly and completelyStrong project management skillsHighly self-motivated and directed, an independent thinker, organized and detail-orientedAbility to work independently with little guidance and in a collaborative team environmentAbility to plan and organize effectivelyTechnical RequirementsWindows Server (2003 thru 2019)Linux Redhat Enterprise, CentOS, and Ubuntu Distro experience a plusAzure general administration and solution design experienceAzure DevOps experience a plusKubernetes experience a plusApplication Performance MonitoringServer clustering and H/A conceptsEnterprise job scheduling and automationGeneral web development architecture knowledge and advanced IIS configuration and troubleshootingWindows \ PowerShell \ Python \ Shell scriptingBasic AD and Azure AD management experienceExperience with Microsoft Office toolsThe following hands-on and/or product knowledge of modern infrastructure is important:Vendors: Microsoft, Citrix, VMWare, Palo Alto, Netscaler, Cisco, etc.Technologies: Cloud (Azure), networking, storage, switching, automation, firewalls, monitoring, backup and recovery, disaster recoverySolutions or Products: Terraform, Jira, ServiceNow, Jenkins, Ansible, GIT, Microsoft Desktop and Server Technologies, DNS, DHCPExperience & Education RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent technical education in a directly related area5 to 7 years of hands-on experience directly related to the responsibilities specifiedKnowledge of Insurance and Reinsurance is preferred
