Position Overview: This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with deep experience across Microsoft’s security stack. You’ll help drive implementation and optimization of our security technologies and work closely with the Head of IT to support our growing infrastructure and protect student, staff, and organizational data. You’ll play a key role in maintaining a secure, compliant, and efficient IT environment that supports our frontline mission. Candidates must be capable of building out Microsoft security solutions such as Microsoft Defender, Azure AD, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Purview, Intune, and PowerShell/Python automations from end-to-end. Responsibilities: • Deploy, configure, and manage Microsoft Defender for Endpoint for proactive endpoint protection. • Implement and oversee Microsoft Defender for Identity to protect hybrid identities and monitor for advanced threats. • Secure cloud infrastructure through Microsoft Defender for Cloud, ensuring policy compliance and threat mitigation. • Build and maintain a scalable Microsoft Sentinel SIEM environment for centralized log analysis, alerting, and incident response. • Manage user identity and access with Azure Active Directory, applying best practices in authentication and conditional access. • Utilize Microsoft Intune to enforce device management, application control, and compliance standards. • Govern data and mitigate risk with Microsoft Purview, supporting regulatory compliance and internal data protection standards. • Collaborate with IT leadership to ensure solutions align with broader digital strategy and cybersecurity roadmap. Qualifications: • 5+ years of experience in IT security, preferably in Microsoft cloud and hybrid environments. • Demonstrated expertise in the Microsoft security tools listed: Microsoft Defender, Azure AD, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Purview, Intune, and PowerShell/Python automation • Proven experience implementing full-stack Microsoft security environments multiple times. • Strong knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements relevant to education or public sector. • Experience supporting or reporting to executive IT leadership. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into business impact.
