We are seeking a DevOps Engineering Manager to lead a technical team responsible for developing and managing application deployment and infrastructure provisioning pipelines. Reporting to the Senior Director of DevOps in the OTI Applications Division, you will define automation strategy, drive modernization and innovation, and oversee monitoring tools. You will lead a team working on critical systems, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, Elastic and Dynatrace. As a key leader in the team, you will shape both the technical direction and the team’s growth, ensuring alignment with business goals while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. You will actively contribute to the design, implementation, and support of solutions, mentor and develop staff, and promote continuous improvement. In this role, you will optimize automation and deployment processes, drive cost reductions in product delivery and maintenance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system scalability, reliability, and security. About our team: The DevOps team, part of the OTI Applications division, manages and supports over 150 applications, tools, and services essential for the City of New York. These include both public-facing and internal web applications critical for the city's operations and communication with the public. We pride ourselves on employing modern technologies like AWS, Azure, Azure OpenAI, containerization, Elastic, and Azure DevOps across our application portfolio. Additionally, we build and maintain native mobile applications, and we expedite system development by leveraging SaaS products such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce, and ServiceNow. Responsibilities will include: - Lead a DevOps Engineering team responsible for developing and supporting automation pipelines for NYC.gov and CityShare applications. - Oversee the management of monitoring tools to ensure system performance and reliability. - Mentor and manage DevOps engineers, promoting a collaborative, high-performance culture. - Define and implement automation strategies to streamline deployments and improve efficiency. - Conduct technical reviews to uphold software quality and promote best practices. - Collaborate with other OTI teams to build secure and optimized solutions. - Foster team development through training, coaching, and career growth opportunities. - Lead incident management, perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures. - Develop and track KPIs for deployment frequency, downtime, and infrastructure cost. - Foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, and other OTI teams - Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned. Experience in computer operations, technical support, quality assurance (QA), hardware installation, help desk, or as an end user will not be accepted for meeting the minimum qualification requirements. Special Note To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV, in addition to the Qualification Requirements stated above, individuals must have one year of satisfactory experience in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project in data administration, database management systems, operating systems, data communications systems, capacity planning, and/or on-line applications programming.
