For more information, visit www.umms.org. Job Description Collaborate with both internal and external customers to gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into robust BI solutions. Contribute to designing, developing, testing, and maintaining a variety of reporting and analytic solutions that support strategic, clinical, and operational decision-making across the health system. Serve as a key liaison between clinical stakeholders and IT, enabling enhanced analytics capabilities through mentorship, data strategy, and development of high-value insights. Work is performed under limited supervision. Direct report to the Director, Physician Builder Team. Primary Responsibilities: • Partner with Physician Builders and other stakeholders to develop and implement data solutions that demonstrate clinical performance and address workflow or operational inefficiencies. • Mentor clinical providers participating in the Physician Builder Program to strengthen their understanding of analytics and reporting tools. • Design and build medium-to-complex BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations using SQL, Crystal Reports, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Tableau, and other relevant technologies. • Conduct thorough requirements discovery requirements gathering, data mapping, and process documentation to support reporting solutions aligned with business goals. • Interpret data architecture models including logical, conceptual, and physical diagrams, data flow, and entity relationships. • Perform complex data extraction and transformation processes, ensuring accuracy, quality, and performance of analytics outputs. • Write and validate test plans, execute system and user acceptance testing (UAT), and support quality assurance (QA) processes. • Ensure ongoing availability and reliability of critical dashboards, data extracts, and reports. • Create ad-hoc analyses in response to organizational needs and provide consultative support to leadership and operational teams. • Maintain comprehensive documentation and training materials for supported reports and systems. • Develop deep subject matter expertise in UMMS data domains, including clinical, operational, and quality metrics. • Understand and support the alignment of IT and analytics initiatives with UMMS strategic goals and healthcare industry best practices. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience - Required: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Actuarial Science, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in business intelligence and data analytics or similar, including the development of complex data models, and visualization. • Minimum 3 years of experience with BI tools (e.g., Fabric/Power BI, Business Objects, Tableau, or similar). Education & Experience - Preferred: • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Actuarial Science, or related field. • Experience working with large, complex data sets in a healthcare or clinical environment. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: • Advanced skill in SQL, including writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex queries. • Advanced skill developing reports, dashboards, and visualizations using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or similar. • Advanced knowledge of relational and dimensional data modeling, data governance, and data lifecycle management. • Advanced knowledge of database design, problem analysis and relational database concepts. • Advanced skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely at all levels within the organization. • Proven ability to analyze, interpret, and present complex data in a clear and actionable manner to non-technical stakeholders. • Advanced proficiency creatively translating analytical findings into actionable insights. • Advanced skill developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all levels of leadership, staff and vendors. • Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions. • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Exhibit high self-motivation and have the ability to work and plan independently as well as in a team environment. • Ability to analyze, compare, contrast, and validate work with keen attention to detail. • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, quantitative, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. • Advanced skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint). • Advanced verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
