This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a Data Analyst (Class Action Defense) to join our dynamic team. This position is flexible and allows for fully remote work within reasonable commuting distance from any of our offices located in Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, or Washington D.C. As a Data Analyst, you will play a vital role in supporting our growing class-action defense practice by managing, analyzing, and visualizing data for complex matters, including wage and hour disputes, pay equity cases, and class-action litigation. The ideal candidate will excel in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while demonstrating outstanding technical, analytical, and communication skills. On a typical day, you will: • Data Management & Analytics • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to assess data needs and develop effective analysis strategies. • Obtain, structure, and manage raw datasets from various sources, including payroll, timekeeping, and HRIS. • Analyze data using advanced tools and reporting platforms to create intuitive visual dashboards. • Perform advanced data analytics to generate deliverables such as exposure analyses, pay equity audits, and class lists. • Design reports to identify key case strengths, risks, and potential settlement strategies. • Organize data workflows for wage and hour analyses for efficient reviews across multiple datasets. • Collaboration & Communication • Work with multidisciplinary teams, including attorneys and expert witnesses, to guide data discussions. • Ensure secure data handling throughout the case lifecycle by collaborating with IT and eDiscovery teams. • Effectively communicate findings through written reports and visual presentations. • Technology Strategy & Support • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools for data visualization and reporting. • Leverage software such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or SQL to deliver interactive visualizations. • Support and coordinate with fellow analytics staff to ensure seamless operations. • Class-Action Specific Support • Assist with analysis related to CAFA removal and prepare putative class lists. • Conduct pay equity and EEO analyses to ensure compliance with regulations. • Collaborate with expert witnesses to create effective exposure models for case strategies. • Generate reports to support complex class-action claims highlighting key data trends. • Trial & Litigation Preparation • Support attorneys during motion practice and trial preparation with accurate data summaries. • Review data findings in expert reports to ensure alignment with litigation strategies. • Research & Discovery • Manage specialized and raw datasets required for discovery. • Participate in interviews and meetings to gather and interpret pertinent information. • Administrative Tasks • Record billable time and submit hours in compliance with firm policies. • Ensure consistent attendance and punctuality while performing assigned duties. Join us if you have: • 4-6+ years of experience as a Data Analyst with a strong background in complex data analysis, preferably in class action litigation. • A Master’s or Bachelor's degree in statistics, data analytics, or a related field. • Technical Proficiency: • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and macros. • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or SQL. • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems. • Excellent communication skills to adapt findings for various audiences. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for drafting and editing documents. • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines. • Familiarity with employment law and wage standards is preferred. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively. • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet litigation deadlines. • Experience in a law firm or professional services setting is preferred.
