JOB The NC DST is hiring a Team Quality Assurance/Testing Developer that will work hand in hand with developers building pipelines and testing quality assurance. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.The Orbit Development Team is composed of 12 net developers and supplemental contractual developers as needed. This team supports ORBIT, the State’s pension administration system. ORBIT is used by the Retirement Systems Division (RSD) of DST for the management of all retirement systems and related activities, such as retiree payroll, employer reporting and contribution management, refunds, service purchases, and death and disability benefit processing. The ORBIT system houses the benefit accounts of over 900,000 active and dormant members – state employees, teachers, university employees, local government employees, judges, and legislators.The Software Quality Assurance/Testing Engineer will be responsible for leading a QA program in support of the ORBIT team’s software development activities. Our major applications are written using Microsoft .NET technologies supported by Microsoft SQL Server on the backend integrated with Azure DevOps (Development Operations) platform. The ORBIT system is hosted on Microsoft’s Azure cloud hosting platform and has been undergoing a modernization now that it is hosted on that platform to re-develop and integrate with more Azure features. The iteration of ORBIT being hosted is millions of lines of custom developed code. We have a need to extend and maintain test coverage of the existing source code, as well as develop new tests to maintain that test coverage as the ORBIT system is modernized on the Azure platforms.Job DutiesDevelop and document software testing needs for all systems applications and establish, maintain and enhance quality assurance processes to support the requests from the business users and other subject matter experts.Prepare testing/training materials and gives presentations to users and testers in the IT division.Lead the day-to-day administration, systems maintenance and support for Azure DevOps framework needs of the test solutions to facilitate on-going support for all source code control/builds and deployments of existing systems.Work with the systems development and business teams to identify the functional testing needs and integrate the testing framework to support their applications through the implementation and deployment phases.The Department of State Treasurer's campus is located on Atlantic Avenue, is surrounded by many shopping centers and restaurants, has access to a 24-hour 7-day a week free gym on the campus, and offers a competitive benefit package, and has free employee parking!
