Job Title: Senior Network Security Engineer/Architect Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire Location: Orlando, FL 32826 Pay: $60 - $65/hr Qualifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Networking, or related discipline. • 8+ years of experience in Network Security roles • 2+ years in an architecture or leadership capacity • Deep knowledge of network protocols, routing/switching, segmentation, VPN, firewall technologies, and IDS/IPS platforms. • Hands-on experience with security operations tools including SIEM, NetFlow, packet analyzers, and vulnerability scanners. • Familiarity with Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Fortinet, and cloud-native security tools (Azure/AWS/GCP). Nice to Have Qualifications: • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance standards such as NIST, HIPAA, and CMMC. • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CCIE Security, GIAC (GSEC, GCIA), or TOGAF are strongly preferred Position Summary: The Network Security Architect is a senior leader responsible for designing, building, and securing the enterprise network infrastructure of a large, highly distributed academic environment. Reporting to the Director of Network Services, this role bridges long-term strategic planning with hands-on operational support, ensuring that the college’s network is resilient, scalable, and aligned with cybersecurity best practices. The Network Security Architect provides direction across the entire network security lifecycle— from architectural planning and governance to configuration standards, monitoring, and incident response. This position requires close collaboration with network engineering, information security, compliance, cloud services, and research computing teams. The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of modern security architecture principles, robust operational experience, and a proactive mindset focused on risk mitigation and service excellence Compensation: $60/hr to $65/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
