This position is for a SQL Server DBA supporting the ALTESS commercial cloud services infrastructure. ALTESS is a managed service provider for Army and DoD IT systems and offers managed cloud services in Microsoft Azure. Candidates for this role must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance. This job can be performed from anywhere in the US. Your role and responsibilities • Build new cloud-based data center services environments for DoD cloud initiatives. • Assist with identifying and planning potential new cloud services, features, and capabilities. • Serve as overall subject matter expert on SQL Server DBA technology and market capabilities/trends. • Collaborate with internal and external parties to transform high-level technical objectives into comprehensive technical requirements. • Formulate detailed network, storage, and compute design specifications for stable and secure computing operations in a dynamic cloud-based environment. • Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute technologies. Required education Bachelor's Degree Preferred education None Required technical and professional expertise • The job requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA). • Candidates should have mid to senior-level experience working with SQL Server in a cloud environment. • Possession of a Security+ (or equivalent IA cert) and a computing environment certification, such as MCSA - SQL Server, is necessary. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are expected, along with the ability to manage multiple large-scale projects effectively. • Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, and a solid understanding of network, storage, server, and application technologies are highly desirable. A background in scripting languages related to automation is also beneficial.
