Summary The Cat Apps Solutions and Data Architect will work with BT and business teams to guide the design, development and implementation of solutions. Responsibilities include understanding and documenting the Cat Applications landscape including all integrations and third-party solutions, as well as actively participating in development and integration initiatives. This role is a critical member of the Business Technology team, reporting directly to the Director of Cat Apps. Excellent communication skills and technical acumen are needed to interface with all platform stakeholders and deliver exceptional customer results. This role will work collaboratively with the Enterprise Architecture, Caterpillar technical team as well as Carolina Cat business and technology team members through the development and release lifecycle. Essential Functions • Lead technical and integration efforts for the Cat Apps team by serving as data and solutions architect across the Carolina Cat application portfolio. • Work closely with third-party Cloud application providers, including Accenture/DBS, Texada, iRental, Tecsys and Procore as to application architectures and future roadmaps, enhancements and related integrations. • Maintain understanding of Caterpillar integration requirements and stay abreast of the Cat roadmap for critical new capabilities/functionalities and integrations. • Serve a lead role in hands on development including Mulesoft, Snowflake, SQL and other ETL tools as needed to support Cat Apps development and integration initiatives. • Partner with integration teams, development teams, EPMO teams and Caterpillar team members to maintain data integrity and integrations between source systems, websites, reporting and dashboard engines. • Assist with problem resolution and root cause analysis for issues escalated by the Cat Apps support team. • Serve a lead role in technical design sessions to develop solutions to best leverage existing technologies across the application portfolio. Leverage understanding of architecture standards and business processes to recommend solutions, best practices and improvements. • Lead the evaluation of new Cat Apps technology solutions from an architecture perspective, collaborating with various teams, including BT Enterprise/Solution Architecture. Make recommendations for solutions that best fit Cat Apps/Enterprise standards, including long-term support and cost efficiency. • Follow standards to partner with Project Manager to prioritize, size, plan, and document business requirements and requests in Jira. Test and debug code, configure software, and support deployment and cutover activities to implement solutions as a member of an agile team. • Partner with Project Managers, Solutions Analysts, Solution Architects, Testers, and Developers to contribute to technical and functional project implementations. • Actively participate in Architecture Review Board to provide guidance and suggestions on new design and implementation of enhancements and new solutions. • Adhere to company security policies/procedures • Keep up to date with Cat Apps technology platforms and releases • Stay abreast of Caterpillar requirements, digital excellence initiatives, integrations, and roadmap. • Facilitate collaboration within the team and across departments, serving as a role model for others. • Other duties as assigned. Education And/or Experience • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree OR equivalent education/experience required • Minimum of 10 years of progressive Application development or configuration and implementation experience. Minimum of 3 years prior solution/data architecture experience. • Minimum of 3+ years experience with leading major workstreams/implementation of enterprise ERP systems with preference for Microsoft and SAP platforms. • Experience with engineering/designing/developing business intelligence reporting. • Detail oriented and self-starter with strong written and interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team • Team player with positive “can do” attitude • Great communication skills with enthusiastic personality • Interest in problem solving, data and software applications • Minimum of 3 years experience in Mulesoft or other ETL tools • Proven approach to consuming REST APIs for data imports via ETL tools • Understanding of architectural patterns, such as MVC, Microservices, Event-driven, etc. • Advanced SQL skills with a minimum of 5 years of database development and relational database design. • Experience in cloud based ERP integrations and implementations • Proficient with Agile Ceremonies and Methodologies and/or Scrum rituals.
