To continue to increase the reach of services, driving business growth through the application of modern data science methods, Accuity is seeking a Vice President (VP), Data Science to lead the charge of data and AI initiatives and build the data science roadmap for the organization. The VP, Data Science will lead Accuity's data science strategy, aligning data initiatives with business goals. They will oversee model development, AI/ML implementation and AI governance processes. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Acting as the company-wide data science lead, program managing multiple critical data and AI initiatives and directing the future of data science within the organization. • Coordinating multiple parties to launch data and AI initiatives. • Key stakeholders include the internal technology organization, business operators, finance and third-party development partners. • Identifies opportunities across the business to advance data science in the interest of optimization. • Builds appropriate business cases and measures return-on-investment (ROI) for initiatives. • Monitoring, managing, and optimizing program performance and impact and recommending program changes as required. • Are our predictive models generating ROI? Why or why not? Is performance better in certain subgroups than others? Are better models needed? How do we test it quickly and deploy, validate, repeat as needed until we achieve results? • Clearly communicating program performance and impact to business, finance, and executive level leadership. • Working closely with data architecture team to operationalize new models. • We expect that job duties will be split between: • Program and stakeholder (internal and external) management. • Requirements gathering and translation into program design and enhancement. • Hands-on-keyboard programming, modelling, and data analysis. • This position will lead a team of data scientists. • Foster a growth oriented, inclusive and encouraging culture while maintaining accountability to company policies, procedures, and guidelines. • Maintain a strong and collaborative team of individuals working toward the same goal through effective communication, team building, and development opportunities. Requirements POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline, to include Applied Mathematics or Statistical Analysis. • Master's degree in one of these fields is a plus. Experience: • 8+ years' experience in a hands-on data science role. • Clear familiarity and comfort with fundamental data science principles (model creation, training, evaluation, ML ops, and internal communication). • Demonstration of previous close coordination with DBA and dev ops staff is ideal. • Programming experience with some variety of data science, data management, and data visualization tools; for example, R, Python, SQL, SAS, PowerBI. • Familiarity with data warehouses, data architecture, and data operations principles. • Demonstrated experience in managing a data science initiative/program/function within an organization, including accountability to a program outcome, managing internal and external stakeholders (up to C-suite/executive level), and vendor management. • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar application lifecycle management tools is an asset. • Healthcare analytics experience is required; revenue cycle management is an asset.
