The Power BI Analyst plays a critical role in advancing Tire Discounters' enterprise-wide data and analytics capabilities. This position is responsible for the full lifecycle of business intelligence development-from understanding complex business needs and designing semantic data models to developing high-impact dashboards and ensuring reliable, consistent data delivery. The Analyst will utilize Power BI and related Microsoft technologies to transform raw data into actionable insights that drive informed decision-making across all levels of the organization. Combining technical expertise with strong business acumen, this role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate strategic objectives into effective, data-driven reporting solutions. e Power BI Analyst also contributes to BI governance by applying best practices for report certification, access control, and naming conventions. In addition to developing scalable and intuitive dashboards, the Analyst will enhance functionality using tools such as Power Automate and Power Apps and support the broader organization through training, documentation, and troubleshooting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets aligned with business requirements. • Create scalable and user-friendly semantic data models that support business self-service reporting. • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and gather reporting needs and translate them into effective business reporting solutions. • Write efficient DAX measures and Power Query transformations to optimize report performance. • Administer Power BI environments, including data refresh schedules, user access controls, permissions, and workspace configurations. • Support and enforce BI governance practices, including naming conventions, certified datasets, and role-based access. • Create and maintain standardized documentation for datasets, data models, report logic, and user guides to ensure transparency and knowledge transfer. • Provide training, documentation, and support to business users to promote adoption of Power BI and ensure effective use of reporting tools. • Proactively identify and escalate data quality issues and work with data owners and stewards to ensure resolution. • Support efforts to integrate new data sources into reporting pipelines by collaborating on ETL design or contributing to data ingestion testing. • Extend dashboard functionality by utilizing Power Platform tools such as Power Automate and Power Apps to enhance report interactivity and workflow automation. • Continuously evaluate report and dashboard performance, identifying bottlenecks and optimizing data queries and model efficiency. • Ensure data quality, integrity, and accuracy through validation and cleansing techniques. • Stay current with Power BI features, Microsoft Fabric, and evolving BI best practices, recommending innovations as appropriate. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail. • Proven ability to manage multiple reporting requests, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. • Strong knowledge of Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Service administration. • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and relational databases. • Ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling visual narratives that drive decision-making and are easily understood by non-technical audiences • Skilled in communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Familiarity with BI governance and lifecycle management (certified datasets, workspace design, access control). • Working knowledge of Power Automate and Power Apps is a plus. • Proactive and self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. • Ability to develop dashboards with end-users in mind, ensuring intuitive design, logical drill paths, and accessibility. • Strong desire to explore new BI tools, methods, and emerging trends, with a mindset of continuous learning and improvement. • Basic statistical knowledge including an understanding of basic statistical techniques (e.g., trend analysis, correlation, forecasting) to enhance data interpretation when needed. • Collaborative mindset and experience working in dynamic, cross-functional environment EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience. • 2-4 years of hands-on Power BI development experience. • Experience with SQL and understanding of relational data structures. • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, formulas, filters). • Preferred experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, or similar data environments. • Preferred experience creating user training materials or documentation. • Bonus: Familiarity with Python, R, or SAS for extended data analysis is a plus. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • This job operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. • Requires regular use of hands, frequent sitting, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. • Prolonged periods of screen time are expected in this role.
