Selby Jennings has partnered with a long-tenured and leading Boston-based energy trading firm in search of a new data and cloud-driven software engineer. As a Cloud Data Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with both business and IT teams to streamline and automate key processes. You’ll design, develop, and maintain cloud-based applications and workflows. You’ll help ensure efficient and scalable development practices using modern DevOps tools and automation frameworks. You’re a problem-solver at heart, with a strong engineering mindset and a commitment to continuous learning. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain APIs, data pipelines, and automation tools using Python, FastAPI, and cloud services (e.g., Azure). • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to best practices and full software development lifecycle standards. • Optimize application performance and scalability to meet evolving business needs. • Create reusable microservices and components to accelerate solution delivery. • Collaborate with analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable designs. • Integrate external data sources via APIs, flat files, streams, and databases. • Support and enhance existing data pipelines built with Python, ADF, and SQL. • Work within agile frameworks, delivering features in iterative sprints. • Select and implement appropriate data formats and storage solutions for diverse use cases. • Develop and run tests to ensure data quality across integrated systems. Required Skills & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. • 4+ years of professional programming experience. • Proficiency in Python, testing frameworks, workflow automation, and cloud technologies. • Strong grasp of object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, and design patterns. • Experience with Snowflake or similar OLTP/OLAP databases. • Familiarity with Azure services such as Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and SQL-based solutions. • Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a growth mindset. • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
