STRATEGIC STAFFING SOLUTIONS (S3) HAS AN OPENING! Senior DevOps Engineer (Cloud, IaC, Terraform, Java) Location: Detroit, MI – Hybrid (3 days in office T, W, Th) Role Type: W2 Contract-to-Hire About the Role: We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with a strong background in Cloud environments, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, and hands-on development experience—particularly in Java. The ideal candidate has experience across DevOps, SRE, and software engineering disciplines, ready to work in an Agile environment and help build scalable, reliable infrastructure and pipelines. Key Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and manage cloud-native infrastructure and services using Terraform and other IaC tools. • Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate DevOps practices into the development lifecycle. • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation scripts, and monitoring/logging frameworks. • Perform load testing and performance tuning to ensure system scalability and reliability. • Leverage hands-on development experience (preferably in Java) to support and improve build, test, and deployment processes. • Apply SRE principles to improve system reliability, observability, and incident response. • Work within Agile teams, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and cross-functional collaboration. Required Skills: • Solid experience in DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). • Proficiency with Terraform and IaC best practices. • Strong hands-on development skills, ideally with Java. • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and related services. • Familiarity with load testing tools and performance optimization. • Comfort working in Agile environments; exposure to Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) is a plus. • Strong understanding of CI/CD processes, version control (Git), and configuration management. • Background in software engineering with a deep understanding of development lifecycles. Nice to Have: • Experience with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). • Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar. • Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP). • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and security in cloud-native environments. • Beware of scams.
