NO (C2C, H1B, F1, OPT) - Must Be US Citizen or Green Card - Pay $65 - $75 per Hour W-2 ONLY NO C2C No exceptions, 6 month contract with additional extensions, 3 days onsite, 2x WFH Location Arena District Columbus OH 43215 CBTS is seeking a Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer (Contractor) with deep expertise in F5 Distributed Cloud Web Application Firewall (WAF), Palo Alto Networks firewalls, and Python-based automation. This contractor will support the Cybersecurity Engineering team in implementing and maintaining next-generation security controls across cloud and on-premise environments. The focus is on securing web applications, automating security workflows, and enforcing network segmentation. Responsibilities: • Design, configure, and manage F5 Distributed Cloud WAF for enterprise and customer-facing web applications • Administer Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including security policy updates, rulebase audits, and Panorama configurations • Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate firewall operations, configuration checks, and reporting • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to secure network boundaries, cloud applications, and critical data flows • Assist in incident response by analyzing WAF and firewall telemetry, implementing containment and prevention controls • Participate in security architecture reviews and contribute to solution designs that align with zero-trust principles • Create and maintain documentation for firewall standards, WAF policies, and automation toolsets Requirements: • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or network security engineering roles • Hands-on experience with F5 Distributed Cloud WAF, including configuration of WAF policies, bot defense, and API protection • Expertise with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including Panorama management, security policy tuning, and troubleshooting • Proficient in Python scripting, with use cases in firewall automation, log parsing, or REST API integrations • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S), SSL decryption, and traffic inspection • Experience with log aggregation and SIEM integration (e.g., Splunk, Cortex Data Lake) • Strong communication and documentation skills Preferred Requirements: • Experience with cloud-native platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and securing workloads in public cloud • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar • Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and CI/CD security integration • Security certifications such as PCNSE, F5 CA, GSEC, or equivalent Cincinnati Bell Technology Solutions provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, amnesty, or status as a protected veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
