As a Distinguished Engineer, your technical contributions will guide key technologies and platforms, fostering communication through clear writing, code samples, and blog posts to share knowledge within and outside of the organization. You will specialize in your subject area while providing valuable input across the organization. Your mission within the Customer Engagement Platform organization will be to architect and implement our Personalization Platform, supporting rapid financial product innovation and providing hyper-personalized experiences for millions of users across all of Capital One's financial products. What You'll Do: • Define and drive the technical strategy and roadmap for our Personalization Platform, enabling real-time, personalized user experiences and targeted messaging. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Data Science, Cloud Infrastructure, and Machine Learning to co-develop advanced recommendation systems for Capital One users. • Build and maintain a flexible, scalable rules engine to facilitate business-driven personalization while integrating seamlessly with ML-driven recommendations. • Design, construct, and sustain robust ML infrastructure and pipelines for end-to-end workflows, ensuring high performance and reliability. • Architect event-driven systems for real-time dynamic personalization based on user behavior and contextual signals. • Lead the evolution of MLOps practices by developing automated metrics-backed deployment workflows and scalable monitoring systems. • Provide technical leadership to influence architecture, engineering standards, and mentoring across teams. What You'll Bring: • Proven experience in designing and scaling personalization platforms and recommendation systems. • Strong expertise in cloud-native engineering (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). • Demonstrated leadership in platform strategy and cross-functional technical influence. Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree • At least 7 years of software engineering or development experience. • At least 5 years of public cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure). • At least 5 years of experience in Machine Learning frameworks (PyTorch, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow). Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field. • 9+ years of software engineering or development experience. • 7+ years of experience with ML Pipeline orchestration and workflow tools (Databricks, Airflow, or Kubeflow). • 7+ years of programming experience with Python or Java. • 5+ years of experience in developing and deploying ML systems at scale. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are: Remote (Regardless of Location): $239,900 - $273,800; McLean, VA: $263,900 - $301,200; New York, NY: $287,800 - $328,500; Plano, TX: $239,900 - $273,800; Richmond, VA: $239,900 - $273,800. This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives. Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
