JOB SUMMARY – The System Administrator will manage in-house software systems, servers, storage devices, and network connections to ensure high availability and security of the supported business applications. This individual will also participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with industry best practices. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage virtual and physical servers with various versions of Windows Server and Workstation. • Manage domain services to include Remote Access, DNS, Active Directory, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) • Manage physical and virtual environment (VMware) of 100+ users • Ensure server infrastructure security by implementing best practices regarding privacy and security • Create, manage, and maintain accounts and group membership in Active Directory • Manage and maintain all Windows server-based applications • Ensure all Windows-based systems are running current versions of antivirus software with current virus definition files • Problem resolution, identifying the root causes, and taking corrective action. • Data backup and recovery • Maintain & troubleshoot the system software • Administer all servers and mainframes • Administer security and user accounts • Monitor system performance, i.e. monitor disk, memory, and processor usage • Implement backup procedures • Implement security procedures • Assist in new equipment and system software procurement • Assist users with problem resolution • Proactively look at solutions to problems or ways to streamline our processes in the system's areas • Other duties as assigned REQUIRED AND PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Minimum 5+ years’ experience installing ESXi hosts, building/upgrading/patching VMware clusters and VMware performance and troubleshooting • Minimum 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft Windows Server and workstation operating system administration • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Microsoft Active Directory design, configuration, and maintenance • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline or equivalent experience required • Experience in VMware environment including ESXi, vCenter, HA, DRS, and VSphere Datastores using SAN • Understanding of IT fundamentals - switches, routers, load balancers, networks, databases, SAN storage, applications • Experience supporting computer networks • Ability to work as a team member • Ability to structure work to meet department goals and deadlines • Ability to approach end-user problems and questions with a high degree of understanding and tactfulness • Ability to multi-task • Ability to be creative and persistent in problem-solving • Strong organization and planning skills • Ability to analyze particular situations or data as presented and develop possible solutions for implementation • Able to get the job done in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner • Ability to access a situation and make quick decisions when necessary • Demonstrates ability to manage complex issues while maintaining a flexible, positive, and cooperative demeanor • Responds promptly to operations leaders and stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making • Troubleshoots assigned issues, gathers evidence and investigates all relevant information with participants, vendors, and internal departments to resolve the problem in a cooperative and collaborative manner • Excellent Verbal & Written Communication Skills
